University of Charleston Elects Seven to Board of Trustees

CHARLESTON, W.Va., Oct. 2 -- University of Charleston issued the following news release:

The University of Charleston recently elected seven new members to serve on the University's Board of Trustees:

Jim Bunn II is a managing member of Coal River Energy. He is the youngest member of the board of directors of the West Virginia Coal Association. He also serves on the board of directors of the CAMC Foundation, the Kanawha Valley Mining Institute and the Young Presidents' Organization. He spends his spare time providing support for the community and assisting local schools. Bunn has a degree in Finance from Appalachian State University.

Kimberly Dickerson is the managing director at Protiviti, a business risk and consulting firm. Over the past several years, Dickerson has assisted some of the world's largest financial institutions execute on a variety of value creation initiatives. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Charleston, where she majored in marketing and minored in finance. She also attended the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

Karen Haddad is a University of Charleston alum. She received a bachelor of arts degree from Morris Harvey College before going on to receive a bachelor of science degree at UC. She is a board member for the Charleston Urban Renewal Authority, a board member for the Charleston Civic Center and a board member for the Central West Virginia Regional Airport Authority.

Charles T. Jones is the President and CEO of Amherst Madison. Jones is a Yeager Airport board member, the director emeritus of the Mariners' Museum and the director emeritus of the West Virginia Chapter of The Nature Conservancy. In the past, Jones has served as chairman emeritus of the Inland Waterways Users Board, chairman of the West Virginia Mining & Reclamation Association, director of the Western Pocahontas Corporation, director of Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) Foundation, Inc. and President & Director of the Pittsburgh & West Virginia Railroad Trust.

Bernie Layne is an Attorney at Mani Ellis & Layne, PLLC. He has a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Charleston, a master's degree in Sociology from Ohio University, and a doctorate from the University of Dayton School of Law. Layne is the president-elect of the West Virginia Association for Justice (WVAJ) and he serves on the WVAJ Board of Governors. He is on the healthcare advisory board for the Putnam County Career and Technical Center.

Charles Patton is president and chief operating officer for Appalachian Power, serving approximately 1 million customers in West Virginia, Virginia and Tennessee. Patton received a bachelor's degree (cum laude) from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, and a master's degree from the LBJ School of Public Policy at the University of Texas in Austin. He completed, with honors, special undergraduate programs relating to urban planning and government at Boston University, Harvard and American University. He has served as chairman of the board for the Association of Electric Companies of Texas (AECT) and Texas Taxpayers and Research Association (TTARA), a board member for the Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation, Del Mar College Foundation, Christus Spohn Health System and the Coastal Bend United Way. He has also served on the boards of Easter Seals of Central and Southeast Ohio and the Sam Keeton Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Thomas Reich is a graduate of Morris Harvey College and Marshall University. He formerly owned Underwriters Service Agency in Harford, Connecticut in 1989. Now retired, Mr. Reich devotes his time to community service. He is a member of the board of directors of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and serves on the Governance Committee. In the past, he was president of Cliffside Country Club, board member of the Bankers National Life Insurance Company, Board of Regents and executive committee member, chairman of the Athletics Committee at the University of Hartford and lead donor to the University of Harford's Sports Center.
