United Nations Federal Credit Union and Clements Worldwide Launch First Ever Card-Based Life Insurance Program

PR Web

Long Island City, NY (PRWEB) December 01, 2011

United Nations Federal Credit Union (UNFCU) has allied with Clements Worldwide to offer a credit card-based term life insurance program – the first of its kind -- to meet the needs of UNFCU members who reside in more than 200 countries and territories, many on humanitarian aid missions and in peacekeeping zones. The innovative program, available through UNFCU’s full suite of VISA® credit cards, enables members to easily obtain guaranteed life insurance coverage valid around the globe, including high-risk locations. Uniquely, the initiative offers protection in the event of war, terrorism and political violence and can offer a stop gap to supplement other plans.

Clements Worldwide, a leading provider of international insurance solutions, leveraged its extensive global underwriter network to custom-design the life insurance product, thereby eliminating a complex and often burdensome application process. Accordingly, members can now conveniently obtain competitively-priced, comprehensive term life insurance created to meet their specific needs by simply visiting the program’s dedicated website at http://www.unfcu.org/lifecard.

“We recognized that individuals residing in conflict zones or members who must travel frequently were often barred from participation in other plans,” said Stephen Ryerson, president of UNFCU Financial Advisors. “With Clements we found a financially sound, trusted and timely solution.”

The pioneering platform has already attracted much interest among eligible UNFCU members with policies obtained in over 70 countries during the first weeks alone.

“As CEO and President of a credit union serving members residing in the United States and abroad, I believe this initiative offers an innovative solution to meet the life insurance needs of a global membership and at the same time, enhances our existing credit card program. We look forward to providing this dynamic offering to our members through UNFCU Financial Advisors,” said Carlos Calderon, who oversees OAS Federal Credit Union based in Washington, D.C.

UNFCU began its alliance with Clements in 2005, and in 2010 introduced the first International Term Life and Personal Accident Insurance designed for expatriates and local nationals working on the front lines. A similar flexibility to create new, specialty products proved instrumental in bringing the current product to market.

“Clements Worldwide delivered the required coverage solutions to address the challenges of serving UNFCU’s highly mobile membership, which provided the catalyst for the card-based life insurance program,” said Dante Disparte, director of Clements' Partner Solutions. “UNFCU members are global humanitarians who are constantly confronted by extraordinary risks. We are proud to deliver this original program that offers international civil servants and their families financial peace of mind while enabling them to pursue their invaluable work.”
