Tufts Health Plan reported it has been ranked the #1 private health insurance plan1 and the #1 Medicaid health insurance plan2, known as Network Health3, in the country by the National Committee for Quality Assurance's Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2014-2015.
This marks the first time a health plan has been named #1 in more than one category by the NCQA.
According to a media release, the NCQA rankings, which included 507 private commercial plans and 136 Medicaid plans, are based on quality measures from three performance subcategories-consumer experience, prevention and treatment-and NCQA accreditation.
"Being recognized for offering the nation's top-ranked private and Medicaid health plans is tremendous recognition that reflects our unwavering commitment to providing affordable, high-quality health care coverage to our members no matter their age or life circumstance," said James Roosevelt Jr., chief executive officer, Tufts Health Plan. "It's a shared accomplishment for our entire community of members, employees, providers, employers and brokers."
"While it's satisfying to be acknowledged as the best health plan, our core focus remains on the member and ensuring we provide them with an exceptional experience and care that is high caliber and affordable," said Paul Kasuba, senior vice president and chief medical officer.
