Travel Insured Student Groups Can Now Get Pre-Existing Conditions Coverage or Buy a Cancel for Any Reason Option Up Until Final Trip Payment
Travel Insured has extended the deadline for Student Group Members to obtain coverage of a Pre-Existing Medical Condition or to buy a Cancel for Any Reason option with their Student Group Insurance plan.
East Hartford, CT (Vocus) August 16, 2010 -- Travel Insured International is enhancing the value of its affordable Basic and Comprehensive Group Plans for Students, starting with Student Group Plans effective on or after September 1, 2010, and for groups departing their trips on or after September 1, 2010. Student Group members will have until their final trip payment to purchase one of the Travel Insured Student Group plans to obtain a Pre-Existing Conditions waiver. The waiver allows for Trip Interruption, Emergency Medical and, except for Post-Departure plans, Trip Cancellation coverage due to the recurrence of a pre-existing medical condition. Additionally, Student Group members will have until their final trip payment to add a Cancel for Any Reason option when they buy their Student Group insurance plan.
Student Pre-Existing Medical Condition Coverage
The Pre-Existing Conditions coverage may apply to pre-existing conditions of the students themselves, one of their family members, their travel companion, or one of their travel companion’s family members. A Travel Insured Student Group Plan will include the Pre-Existing Medical Condition coverage when the group member:

• Purchases the plan prior to his or her final trip payment. |
A Pre-Existing Medical Condition is any illness, sickness or condition for which medical diagnosis, care or treatment was obtained during the 180-day period ending on the effective date of the group insurance plan.
Student groups can be from school, civic, or youth organizations, and are comprised of 10 or more insured travelers, of whom 80% must be age 35 or younger. All members must be insured on the same plan and travel on the same dates. The plan prices are non-age rated, allowing the same premiums for both students and their adult chaperones. The same low premium rates also apply whether a Student Group plan is voluntary – meaning an option for each group member – or inclusive, with the premium built into the cost of the overall travel package and taken by all group members.
Student Cancel for Any Reason Option
Student Group members may now individually opt to purchase, or the whole Student Group may purchase, the popular Cancel for Any Reason option up until their final trip payment as an upgrade with the purchase of their Student Group Plan. The option allows individuals to Cancel for Any Reason two or more days prior to their scheduled departure for up to a 75% cash reimbursement of their non-refundable trip costs.
Student group leaders have 3 choices of Travel Insured group plans:
The Student Group Basic Plan includes Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Trip Delay and Emergency Evacuation & Repatriation Coverage. Worldwide Emergency Travel Assistance is included. The plan, however, does not include Missed Connection, Emergency Accident & Sickness, Baggage Protection or Baggage Delay Coverage.
The Student Group Comprehensive Plan includes a full list of coverage and benefits, including: Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Trip Delay, Missed Connection, Baggage Protection, Baggage Delay, Emergency Accident & Sickness, and Emergency Evacuation & Repatriation Coverage. Worldwide Emergency Travel Assistance is included.
A third choice is the Student Group Post-Departure Plan, which takes effect on the date of departure. This plan eliminates Trip Cancellation coverage and the Cancel for Any Reason Option, and has limited Trip Interruption, but otherwise includes the coverage and benefits of the comprehensive plan during the days of the trip. A waiver for Pre-Existing Medical Condition coverage under Trip Interruption and Emergency Medical Coverage can be obtained by purchasing the plan before final trip payment.
