Three Insurance CEOs Elected to AAIS Board of Directors

WHEATON, Ill., April 9 -- The American Association of Insurance Services issued the following news release:

The chief executive officers of three property/casualty insurance companies were elected today to serve on the board of directors of the American Association of Insurance Services (AAIS). AAIS is a national advisory organization that develops policy forms and rating information used by more than 700 P/C insurers throughout the U.S.

The election of new directors was conducted during the AAIS annual meeting, held in conjunction with AAIS's annual "Main Event" executive conference. The new members of the AAIS board are:

* Bruce G. Kelley, J.D., CPCU, CLU, president and CEO of EMC Insurance Group Inc., Des Moines, Iowa. Bruce practiced law with a Des Moines firm before joining EMC in 1985 as vice president and general counsel. He has served on the boards of the Property and Casualty Insurers Association of America, The Institutes, and the Property Loss Research Bureau.

* Jeff Mauland, CPCU, AU, president and CEO of North Star Mutual Ins. Co., Cottonwood, Minn., since 2001. Jeff began his insurance career with North Star in 1979, and has served as chairman of the Minnesota Association of Farm Mutual Insurance Companies.

* Randy Shaw, CPA, president and CEO of Everett Cash Mutual Insurance Company in Everett, Pa. Randy joined Everett Cash in 1987, a few years after receiving his bachelor's degree in accounting from Penn State University.

At the meeting, AAIS also honored two executives leaving the AAIS board upon completing their terms of service: Stuart Henderson, president and CEO of Western National Group, Edina, Minn., and Jack Rader, chief marketing officer and vice president of reinsurance for Farmers Alliance Companies, McPherson, Kan.

AAIS directors continuing in their service include:

* Chairman Jeffrey B. Kusch, president and CEO of Austin Mutual Ins. Co., Maple Grove, Minn.;

* Vice Chairman R. Douglas Haines, president and CEO of Buckeye Insurance Group, Piqua, Ohio;

* Herman Bontrager, president and CEO, Goodville Mutual Casualty Co., New Holland, Pa.;

* Judy Jackson, director, NLC Insurance Companies, Norwich, Conn.;

* Richard Zick, president and CEO, Utica First Ins. Co., Utica, N.Y.; and

* Edmund J. Kelly, president and CEO, AAIS.
