Thompson Hine Names Seven New Partners

CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Thompson Hine LLP has elected seven lawyers to the firm’s partnership effective January 1, 2011.

Five of the seven new partners are women, reflecting Thompson Hine’s strong commitment to diversity and the professional growth of its women lawyers through its Diversity & Inclusion Initiative and its women’s initiative, Spotlight on Women®.

The new partners are:

Roger H. Bora, a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property group in the Dayton office, helps businesses of all sizes identify, enforce and exploit their IP rights including complex global trademark selection issues and application filing strategies. With years of experience managing IP portfolios, as well as business and marketing experience, Bora brings a business perspective to client matters. He has served as a trademark lawyer with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and interned at the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Active in the International Trademark Association, Bora received his J.D. and Masters of Intellectual Property from Franklin Pierce Law Center, a B.S. in business management from Saint Michael’s College and an A.S. in marketing from Champlain College. He is admitted to practice in Ohio, Maine and Maryland.

John D. Cottingham, a member of the firm’s Corporate Transactions & Securities group in the Cincinnati office, focuses on mergers and acquisitions, securities, corporate finance, private equity and commercial transactions. Before joining Thompson Hine, Cottingham worked as a mergers and acquisitions investment banker in New York, and prior to law school served in the U.S. Navy as a division officer, department head and executive officer aboard the submarine USS Phoenix. He received his J.D. from New York University and his B.S.E. from the University of Michigan.

Sarah C. Flannery, a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment group in the Cleveland office, focuses her practice on counseling and representing employers in immigration matters and I-9 compliance, as well all aspects of employment law with an emphasis on preventive counseling and litigation. Flannery received her J.D., summa cum laude, from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and her B.S., cum laude, from John Carroll University. She is admitted to practice in Ohio.

Jennifer L. Maffett, a member of the firm’s Business Restructuring, Creditors’ Rights & Bankruptcy group in the Dayton office, focuses her practice on the restructuring and workout of nonperforming loans; creditors’ rights and remedies under the Bankruptcy Code, Uniform Commercial Code and other state law; and representing corporate debtors and other parties in bankruptcy reorganizations. Maffett received her J.D., summa cum laude, and her B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of Dayton. She is admitted to practice in Ohio.

Mildred Quinones-Holmes, a member of the firm’s Commercial & Public Finance group in the New York office, focuses her practice on corporate trust matters. Prior to joining Thompson Hine, she served as managing counsel for the global agency and trust business of The Bank of New York, where she was responsible for resolving legal matters on a global scale. She has extensive experience in cross-border project financings, high-yield debt, secured and unsecured transactions, corporate finance and general fiduciary matters for institutional clients. Quinones-Holmes received her J.D. from Boston College and her B.S. from Yale University. She is admitted to practice in New York.

Amie L. Vanover, a member of the Personal & Succession Planning group in the Columbus office, focuses her practice on organizing and advising tax-exempt organizations, estate and tax planning including charitable planning, and estate and trust administration. She received her Estate Planning Certification from the Institute of Continuing Legal Education and the Probate & Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan, a reflection of her in-depth knowledge of estate planning and administration, estate tax returns, post-death tax plans, trusts, contested proceedings and other matters. Vanover received her J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, Order of the Coif, and her B.A. from Capital University, summa cum laude. She is admitted to practice in Ohio and Michigan.

Kim Wilcoxon, a member of the Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation group in the Cincinnati and Dayton offices, focuses her practice on assisting clients with retirement plans, welfare plans and executive compensation arrangements, with an emphasis on issues relating to health and welfare benefits. Wilcoxon received her J.D. from the University of Cincinnati, graduating first in her class, and her B.A., summa cum laude, from Miami University. She is admitted to practice in Ohio.
