Third Point Reinsurance Company Ltd. Announces Hiring of J. Robert Bredahl as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer, and of Daniel Malloy as Executive Vice President, Underwriting

HAMILTON, Bermuda--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Third Point Re is pleased to announce the hiring of Rob Bredahl as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer, and Dan Malloy as Executive Vice-President, Underwriting.

Mr. Bredahl joins Third Point Re from Aon Benfield, where he was CEO of Aon Benfield Securities and President of Aon Benfield Americas. Aon Benfield is a leading reinsurance broker and a division of Aon Corporation. Mr. Bredahl led Aon Benfield’s investment banking effort, focusing on capital-raising for start-up insurance and reinsurance companies, merger and acquisition advisory, and all forms of Insurance Linked Securities, and was the lead banker and advisor on the formation of Third Point Re. Mr. Bredahl was also a member of Aon Benfield’s global management committee. Mr. Bredahl joined Aon Benfield through Aon’s acquisition of Benfield PLC, a London headquartered reinsurance broker. At Benfield, Mr. Bredahl was CEO of Benfield U.S. and CEO of Benfield Advisory. Prior to entering the reinsurance business by joining EW Blanch, a predecessor company of Benfield PLC, Mr. Bredahl was Managing Director and head of US derivatives sales and structured debt origination for Barclays Capital in New York. Mr. Bredahl received a BA in Economics from Middlebury College in 1985 and attended the Executive Risk Management Program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Malloy also joins Third Point Re from Aon Benfield. At Aon Benfield, Mr. Malloy was Co-Head of the Specialty Practice Groups and he led a team that originated, structured and placed highly customized reinsurance treaties. Many of the types of reinsurance structures and lines of business on which Mr. Malloy’ team focused at Aon Benfield will be targeted by Third Point Re. Mr. Malloy has spent his entire 30 year career in the reinsurance market and has held a number of high profile leadership positions. Prior to joining Aon Benfield, Mr. Malloy headed the Specialty Lines Group at Benfield Inc. and was a member of Benfield’s U.S. management committee. Mr. Malloy joined Benfield in 2003 from Stockton Reinsurance Ltd, where he served as President. Before joining Stockton Reinsurance, Mr. Malloy was President of Centre Re Bermuda. Mr. Malloy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Dartmouth College.
