Thief grabs sandwich and runs from restaurant [The Moultrie Observer, Ga.]

Oct. 03--MOULTRIE -- A man with a hankering to "Eat fresh at Subway" Wednesday also wanted to eat free, grabbing a steak sub and running out as an employee was ringing up the sandwich.

An employee at the 100 W. Central Ave.Subway said that the man ordered a Philly steak sub at about 8:35 p.m. After making the sandwich the employee put it on the counter to ring up the purchase, at which time the thief snatched it.

The man, described as a black male wearing a white shirt and brown cargo shorts, ran west on Central Avenue after leaving the restaurant.

In other thefts:

--Clarence Anderson, Moultrie, reported the theft of a bed and dresser from a residence in the 300 block of Third Street Southwest.

The stolen property was valued at $130.

Sheriff's Office

--Robert Catto, 3000 Tillman Road, reported Wednesday a burglary in which $2,199 worth of firearms and electronics were stolen.

--Douglas Jordan, 1100 block Fred Webb Road, reported A Wednesday burglary in which property stolen totaled $2,499.

The stolen property included two pump shotguns, single-shot shotgun, double-barrel shotgun, semi-automatic rifle, rolls of quarters and cash, coins, mini iPad with black case, Sanyo flat screen television, Toshiba laptop computer, Targus laptop case and Nintendo game system.

--Carmen Hicks, 1100 block Fred Webb Road, reported Wednesday a burglary in which a Sanyo flat screen television and necklace, with a total value of $1,328, were stolen.

--Hunter Benton, 200 block Sumner Road, reported Wednesday the theft of an Otter Box iPhone cover stolen while he was at Colquitt County High, 1800 Park Ave.

--Daniel Chadwick, 200 block Middlebrooks Lane, reported Tuesday the theft of an iPhone 4S with black case and $15 from his gym locker at Colquitt County High.

--Heather Wilson, 300 block Willis Still Road, reported Wednesday that a 1994 Dodge Ram pickup truck was stolen from her mother's residence in the 300 block of Larry Dunn Road.

Arrests

Moultrie Police

--Teresa Kim White, 41, 345 Widow White Road, Meigs, was charged Wednesday with driving under the influence and failure to maintain lane.

--Jeffery Lee Worthy Sr., 20, 220 Hillcrest Ave., was charged Tuesday with speeding and suspended license,

--Sotero Carrichi, 47, Norman Park, was charged Wednesday with no license and speeding.

--Sheila Renea Melton, 32, 768 Alderman Road, was charged Wednesday with probation violation.

Norman Park Police

--Tommy Leval Dent, 34, 234 Cherry St., was charged Tuesday with simple battery, cruelty to children and interference with a 911 call.

State Patrol

--Toni Marie Roberts, 26, 289-B Marshell Road, Meigs, was charged Tuesday with driving under the influence, endangering a child under 14 while driving under the influence, no insurance and failure to drive within a single lane.

Probation Office

--Clark Randall Stripling, 31, 351 C.O. Kennedy Road, was charged Wednesday with probation violation.

Assaults

Sheriff's Office

--Erica Moctezuma, 200 block Brandi Drive, reported Wednesday that a male acquaintance entered her residence without permission, hit her while she tried to call police, chased her and put her in a "head lock."

Moctezuma eventually was able to run next door for help, sheriff's reports said. She had visible injuries to her nose and lip, but refused transport to the hospital.

Property damage

Moultrie Police

--Eddie Brazel, Moultrie, reported Wednesday that someone damaged a 1990 Buick Electra.

Brazel noticed that a hubcap had been removed.

Because removing the hubcap requires removing a center piece and loosening a threaded piece, "foul play was involved," police said.

--Enos Bryant, Moultrie, reported Wednesday that a man driving the wrong way in a parking lot in the 200 block of First Street Southeast struck 2013 Toyota Tacoma he was driving and left without stopping.

Bryant told police that the man was driving a red Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck.</p>

The Toyota had damage to the rear bumper on the passenger side and a scratch behind the bumper.

Other investigations

Sheriff's Office

--Juan Trejo, 100 block East Gate Way, Norman Park, reported Wednesday that a pony was injured.

Trejo reported that when he got home a neighbor told him that a boy hit the pony with a pipe and wooden stick.

The pony had lacerations on its back and swelling on the right side, but did not appear to be seriously injured, sheriff's reports said.

The neighbor described the boy as a white male who was about 5 fee tall.
