Statement on Retirement of Senate Majority Leader Frederick E. Berry
| Federal Information & News Dispatch, Inc. |
"A sincere "thank you" for service well rendered and a public life well lived goes to our friend Senator
Local communities in his district, and educational institutions across the landscape have all benefited from Fred's legislative leadership and skills, and his never waning attention to the needs of his district. He has been an incredible partner over the years, and a shining example of what it means to be a public servant and citizen. I've known and admired Fred since high school days, and his courage in overcoming physical challenges is the stuff of legends and inspiration to all.
Patrice and I wish him and Gayle all the best - and I look forward to working with him for the next 14 months as he ends his career. I believe it when Gayle says he will still be contributing to the public purpose even after he is retired, and I am glad that is so."
