Dec. 31--BOSTON -- Pope John Paul II's line of Rob Beaton, Mike Skarbek and Austin Braley overpowered O'Bryant 5-4 on Friday in a boys hockey match at Matthews Arena at Northeastern University.

Beaton finished with two goals and an assist while Skarbek added a goal and two assists and Braley notched two assists.

The Lions jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Beaton's first goal and a score from Jack Telman but O'Bryant kept it close.

With the score knotted at three entering the final period, the Lions defense held strong as Skarbek broke the tie and Tom Kennedy added insurance with help from Austin Sanidas and Colin Cahill.

O'Bryant made a last-ditch effort for a score with 24 seconds left but it wasn't enough.

Cape Tech/CCA went down 3-0 early in the first period.

Jim Fay cut the Cape Tech/CCA deficit to 3-1 with help from Caleb Dalterio and Andrew McAdams but the Crusaders were never able to get back on track. Tucker Hathaway scored the Crusader's other goal in the third period.

Martin then added the Knights' third score on assists from Katie Lowry and Annabelle White late in the second. Anna Cole finished out the period, punching one into the top right corner of the net with help from Alex Glynn with 1:26 left.
