SUNZ Insurance Company Selects ASP Version of DTI’s OASIS Solution; New Insurer Chooses DTI to Provide Efficient Management Tool for Workers’ Compensation Business

BOSTON - September 27, 2005
Delphi Technology, Inc. (DTI), an established provider of technology solutions to the property and casualty insurance market, announced today that Florida-based SUNZ Insurance Company (SUNZ) has selected DTI's OASIS solution to manage the company's Workers' Compensation line of business.
SUNZ specializes in providing insurance products and services to Professional Employer Organizations, Staffing Companies and other preferred large risks. As a new insurance organization, SUNZ required a proven and cost-effective solution that would provide the required functionality and enable them to administer their business most efficiently and effectively. In addition to end-to-end insurance processing for their Workers' Compensation business, SUNZ required a solution that would support the distinctive data collection and reporting needs of these uniquely structured organizations.
OASIS components to be implemented by SUNZ include:
-
Workers' Compensation Policy Management (WCPM), including deployment of eApp and eCOI
-
Financial Management (FM)
-
Central Information System (CIS)
The OASIS solution implementation is currently underway in a two-phased effort, with Phase 1 to include deployment of the OASIS WCPM solution, FM solution, and development of customized data collection and reporting for its insureds. Phase 1 will also include tight integration with the technology in place at their Third Party Administrator, United Self Insured Services (USIS). This close relationship will enable SUNZ to execute their "best-in-class" approach. Phase 2 of the project will expand the implementation to include interfaces to SUNZ' general ledger and accounts payable systems as well as web-based products and services.
According to Douglas Lilak, President of SUNZ, "It has been my experience that most carriers truly want to be of service to their customers. Unfortunately for the customer, outdated legacy systems and manual processes prohibit excellence in service while at the same time cause increases in expenses--all ultimately borne by the customer. We are convinced that our key partnership with Delphi puts us at the "head of the pack" in terms of collecting, processing, and distributing useful and necessary information to our insureds. We have the edge in policy issuance, statutory reporting, monitoring operations, and potential fraud detection."
Glen J. Distefano, Chief Information Officer at SUNZ added, "We looked at numerous solutions and ultimately chose DTI in large part due to the system's robust capabilities and flexibility. We also needed a solution partner who was both willing and able to customize the solution to our needs to support our best-in-class philosophies. In DTI, we found the unbeatable combination of a solution and team to meet or exceed all of our requirements."
Distefano continued, "DTI's ASP offering was of particular interest to us beyond just the obvious cost benefits. After last year's hurricane season here in Florida, we understand the value of being able to access and maintain our system from any location via the Internet. Enabling this truly virtual organization through DTI's ASP solution allows us to offer uninterrupted service to our customers in almost any circumstance."
Sam Fang, DTI's President, commented, "We thank SUNZ for selecting DTI and joining our growing list of OASIS Workers' Comp clients. They are representative of the new breed of insurance company that is choosing to focus on their core competency - the business of insurance, while leaving the technology to us. DTI's ASP business model clearly provides a competitive advantage for those insurance companies, like SUNZ, who understand the value of being an agile organization that can react quickly to changes in market, technology, and even those unexpected operational challenges presented with natural disasters. We look forward to a long and successful relationship as our teams work in a collaborative effort focused on SUNZ' success."
