SCF to Offer Local Anesthesia Dental Hygiene Continuing Ed Course

BRADENTON, Fla., May 8 -- State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (formerly the Manatee Community College) issued the following news release:

State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Dental Hygiene Program, in partnership with SCF's Corporate and Community Development Division, will offer two noncredit local anesthesia courses for dental hygienists in Summer 2014.

"Local Anesthesia: A Course for Dental Hygienists" will be held 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday- Sunday, June 19-22. The course includes:

* June 19-20, didactic instruction at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W., building 29, room 106 nursing auditorium;

* June 21-22, clinical instruction at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W., Dental Hygiene Clinic, building 2, parking lot F.

The course fee of $1,495 includes breakfast and lunch each day. Prior to attending the course, students will be required to purchase the "Local Anesthesia for the Dental Hygienist" textbook.

An advanced course,"Local Anesthesia Advanced Techniques: A Course for Dental Hygienists" will be held 8-4:30 p.m. Monday, June 23, at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W., Dental Hygiene Clinic, building 2. The course will include didactic instruction 8 a.m. - noon and clinical instruction 1-4:30 p.m. The course fee of $325 includes lunch each day.

The courses will be led by Demetra Logothetis, professor and director of University of New Mexico Division of Dental Hygiene and author of "Local Anesthesia for the Dental Hygienist."

For both courses, participants must present current documentation including a Florida dental hygiene license, CPR certification and professional liability insurance coverage.

Participants may register up until the start of the courses. Registration can be paid by phone, mail or in person via MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover, check or cash. Send registration and payment to:
