Prudential Group Insurance and Canine Companions for Independence Forge Strategic Partnership

NEWARK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Prudential Group Insurance, a business of Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYSE: PRU), will enter into a sponsorship with Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) further expanding the company’s commitment to the disability community.

Canine Companions provides highly trained assistance dogs to people with disabilities. In addition, the organization delivers the support and training necessary to ensure enduring partnerships between the dogs and graduates who have a range of 100 physical and / or cognitive impairments.

Canine Companions’ inaugural Volunteer Leadership Conference, being held August 23-25 in Santa Rosa, California, honors and provides educational information to the organization’s 3000 volunteers.

Canine Companions breeds and trains assistance dogs and ensures the longevity of companion partnerships by carefully matching a dog’s skills with the needs of the disabled person. Canine Companions trains four types of assistance dogs to master over 40 specialized commands: Service Dogs, Skilled Companions, Hearing Dogs, and Facility Dogs. After completing training, the dogs are teamed with a graduate during an intensive two week training period.
