ProMutual Group’s CME Website Expands Offerings
BOSTON, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 11/30/09 -- ProMutual Group, one of the top ten medical liability insurance providers in the country, recently announced the addition of two continuing medical education (CME) activities to its CME website. The jointly sponsored activities were accredited by ProMutual Group, an Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) accredited provider, and developed by Physicians' Reciprocal Insurers (PRI), a New York-based medical liability insurance company. The activities are available to physicians nationwide and are accessible on ProMutual Group's CME website, www.pmgcme.com, or via PRI's website.
"We are excited to accredit these activities and give physicians greater access to CME activities in an easy to navigate and readily available online forum," said Maureen Mondor, vice president of physician education for ProMutual Group. "Our belief is that with a greater number of risk management specific CMEs available, we will continue to have a positive impact on patient safety."
The activities, "Prevention & Management of Medical Errors: A Risk Management Approach" and "Team Work & Patient Safety," have a duration of three hours each and feature interactive video and graphic components. The cost for each activity will be $60 and physicians will be eligible for three credits upon completion. While all physicians must obtain CME credits in order to maintain their licenses and hospital privileges, some states, such as Massachusetts, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, require that a certain number of the total credits they earn be specific in risk management, and these courses fit that criteria.
"The advantage of having these CME activities accredited by ProMutual Group is the national exposure we will now have in our ability to educate physicians," said Geri Donohue, associate director of risk management education for PRI. "We feel that the more physicians we can reach with these programs, the greater the impact we will have on patient safety. Having ProMutual Group accredit the activities was essential to achieving this goal."
