Presagia Launches Web-Based Employee Leave Solution With Automated FMLA Workflow
MONTREAL, June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Presagia, an innovator of web-based software solutions for integrated absence & disability management, today announced the launch of "Presagia AtWork - Leave Management", the latest in Presagia's suite of integrated absence and disability solutions. This new technology delivers FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act) workflow automation and decision support, and includes recently updated model U.S. Department of Labor FMLA forms as well as template letters and forms designed by national workplace law firm Jackson Lewis LLP. Employers and leave service vendors using this solution can efficiently administer employee leave while closely tracking and communicating critical leave information needed to identify and respond to potential leave abuses impacting employee absence and productivity.
Best-practice leave management can improve legal compliance, reduce absence, lower workforce costs and increase productivity. However, a lack of viable technology solutions has prevented the majority of employers from realizing these benefits and forced them to rely on antiquated systems lacking the sophistication needed to properly manage complex leave policies. Recently revised FMLA rules further highlight this technology gap. Many employers simply do not have the resources to update and implement leave management processes and systems to meet these changes. Presagia addresses this, having configured leave management rules in its all-in-one leave solution to provide employers with workflow automation and decision support to manage FMLA in coordination with other types of mandated or voluntarily provided company leave.
Presagia's CEO, David Glickman states, "Our goal has been to develop a system that addresses specific employer pain points like FMLA while keeping in mind the big picture; integrated management of all employee leaves to enhance operational efficiency and to maximize savings of cost and time."
With input from Jackson Lewis attorneys specializing in FMLA compliance, Presagia develops and updates the rules and document templates driving leave workflows, alerts, reminders and correspondence to support companies' efforts to adhere to their best-practice leave processes.
"With traditional leave systems it can take weeks to determine an employee's eligibility," explains Nicola Boyd, Product Director for Presagia AtWork. "By centrally capturing all of this information in real-time and interfacing with other Human Resources Information Systems, leave managers can use our system to make instant eligibility determinations and send off auto-populated certification documents, employees can login to check leave balances, supervisors can see which of their employees are going on leave, and so on - this is a win-win solution for all."
While Presagia AtWork's support for the revised FMLA rules is surely an asset for US employers, its greatest benefit is the capability to integrate leave management with other absence management programs like Return-to-Work. This enables employers to proactively refer at-risk cases to the appropriate absence management programs to better address potential high-cost cases.
Next up for Presagia AtWork - Leave Management: closing the gap between employee leave and the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act). Presagia will soon deploy a powerful toolkit to facilitate an employer's assessment of whether additional leave should be provided as a reasonable accommodation under the ADA and other similar disability discrimination laws.
