Police ID suspect in Edmond, Oklahoma City home burglaries

May 02--Police have identified and are still searching for a suspect accused of burglarizing a number of homes, including the residence of Oklahoma City Thunder guard Andre Roberson.

Taron William Cheval Stevenson, 18, is being sought on 11 complaints of burglary of a residence following a string of home break-ins that took place April 21-22 in Edmond and Oklahoma City, according to an arrest warrant filed this week in Oklahoma County District Court.

After police released photos of a suspect in the burglaries, Crime Stoppers received nine calls identifying the suspect as Stevenson, the warrant states.

Police also were notified that Stevenson was jailed April 23 in Clinton on complaints of possession of marijuana, speeding and operating a motor vehicle without a driver's license or valid insurance. Stevenson posted bond and was released from Custer County jail, a Custer County Court spokeswoman said.

However, authorities placed a hold on the release of Stevenson's impounded vehicle, the warrant states. Police obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and discovered a pair of tennis shoes with a waffle pattern sole that matched evidence obtained at the scene of at least one of the burglarized homes. They also found a backpack with an Oklahoma City Thunder logo and a baggage claim check with Roberson's name.

The warrant states that Roberson, a first-year shooting guard who played at the University of Colorado, had a backpack and Xbox gaming system stolen from his home. The investigation is ongoing, but previous reports indicated the burglar also stole $500 in coins from several other homes.
