Piles of Dirt Saves Taxpayer Dollars Building Field of Dreams

PR Web

Moncks Corner, SC (PRWEB) June 12, 2014

Over the past month, the developers of one of Moncks Corner's newest and largest residential and commercial developments, Foxbank Planation, has donated 6,400 tons of topsoil to the town. The donation is equivalent to nearly 300 dump truck loads of dirt. The mounds of dirt have been recycled and used to build the new ball fields at the Town's newest recreation complex. The recreation complex is located on East Main Street adjacent to downtown Moncks Corner.

Foxbank Plantation, developed by The Randolph Group of Greenville and Chesapeake Capital Partners of Marriotsville, Maryland, donated not only the dirt, but also the delivery. Transportation accounts for most of the cost, says town administrator Mark Hehn, who estimates the value of the donated material and delivery to be around $90,000.

"The donation and delivery from Foxbank enables the town of Moncks Corner to prepare the new football and soccer fields for grassing at the perfect time of year," says Moncks Corner Mayor William Peagler. "I appreciate all efforts of the private sector to assist with this and other worthwhile projects. Working together makes a real difference to the town and our taxpayers."

Moncks Corner needed topsoil for construction of new ball fields in its new Regional Recreation Complex, which Hehn says will open initially with four baseball fields, a football field and a soccer field. Eventually, the 50-acre site will also include a Miracle Needs Field for special needs children, a tennis complex, basketball courts, walking trails and a community center.

"We had an excess of dirt," says Jeff Randolph, president of The Randolph Group and visionary for the 800-acre master-planned community. "When we create ponds and roads, we also create dirt," says Randolph. "We're happy to be able to contribute in this way, to be able to be a good partner and neighbor," says Randolph. "This is a continuation of the good relationship we have, and another role we can play in helping to develop the Moncks Corner community."

Foxbank Plantation is also donating land for a future Moncks Corner fire station. "Foxbank Plantation values its relationship with Moncks Corner and was grateful the town desired to better serve its citizens living in the community with a new fire station. We view Foxbank as a community asset and recognize its importance to the overall area. We look forward to the completion of this valuable addition to he community," says Matt Brunner of Chesapeake Capital Partners.

Foxbank Plantation was voluntarily annexed into Moncks Corner, doubling the town's size. The development is home to some 850 families and currently expanding to accommodate another 1,600 homes. A small commercial retail building opened earlier this year with an insurance company, liquor store and frozen yogurt shop. Additional retail space is planned. Two churches will soon open their doors. Freedom Church will be ready by the end of the year and Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church is set to open in April 2015. By 2018, an elementary and middle school complex will serve children in Berkley County on 20 acres in Foxbank Plantation.
