Futurity First Insurance Group announced the appointment of Ian Perkins as the manager of its South Florida Branch, in Weston.

Recognitions

NewsChannel 5's Contact 5 Investigator Katie LaGrone and photojournalist Jim Sitton are being honored with a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for excellence in video reporting: hard news for their investigative piece entitled "Keyless Cars," in West Palm Beach. The award is presented by the Radio and Television Digital News Association. The investigation exposed safety concerns over keyless-start cars.

Sarah Martin, executive director of the Delray Beach Marketing Cooperative received the BizBash Florida Readers' Choice Event Producer of the Year Award in recognition for the work she and her team does including producing the Signature Delray Beach Event Series, On The Ave and producing the 100 Foot Christmas Tree, July Fourth and First Night for the city. The cooperative is a partnership between Delray Beach, the Community Redevelopment Agency, the Downtown Development Authority and the Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce.

The University of Miami's Office of Civic and Community Engagement announced that Task Force member Dr. Erin Kobetz, assistant professor of Epidemiology and Public Health at the Miller School of Medicine, is this year's recipient of the Spirit of Service-Learning Award in Higher Education, presented by the Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of South Florida.
