Peerless Insurance™ Appoints Rooney to Regional Vice President
Canales named new Marketing Vice President
Keene, N.H - January 25, 2011 – Peerless Insurance, a Liberty Mutual Agency Corporation regional company, has appointed Mr. Robert M. Rooney, Jr. to regional vice president, New Hampshire-Vermont region. Appointed to succeed Mr. Rooney as vice president, Marketing, is Mr. Carl J. Canales, formerly with Colorado Casualty™, also a Liberty Mutual Agency Corporation regional company. Both will report to Michael R. Christiansen, president and chief executive officer, Peerless Insurance.
Mr. Rooney will be responsible for profitable growth of commercial lines business and maintaining strong agency relations in New Hampshire and Vermont. Based in the company’s home office in Keene, Rooney will manage a staff of approximately fifty employees and oversee marketing, underwriting, and policy administration operations in those states.
As Marketing Vice President, Mr. Canales will be responsible for Peerless Insurance’s agency distribution management, administration of agent incentive plans, and overall marketing strategy for the company’s eight-state territory.
Mr. Rooney has been with Peerless Insurance for more than 22 years. During his tenure with the company he has served as surety manager for New York and New Jersey, territory manager in the Syracuse, N.Y. region, and was named vice president, Marketing, in June 2004. He is a 1988 graduate of the University of New Hampshire’s Whittemore School of Business and Economics, and holds the CPCU and AFSB professional designations.
Mr. Canales has been a marketing consultant with Colorado Casualty since July 2008. He joined the company in May 2004 as a territory manager. He graduated from Texas State University in 2000 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration – Marketing, and holds the CIC professional designation.
