EDINA, Minn. -- Judy Dalager, age 65, of Savage, died on Tuesday, May 18, at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina.

She is survived by her husband, Darrel; sons, Jeff and fiancee Ronda Holstrom, and Todd (Daria); 2 granddaughters, Brandie Jo and Elyse; 4 sisters and 1 brother, Elaine Taylor, Charles (Phyllis) Kirchner, Carol (Gene) Schatz, Colleen (John) Kvasnicka and Monica (Bill) Fiduk; many nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Thelma (Haarstad) Kirchner.

Funeral Service is Saturday, May 22, at 11 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, 3650 Williams Dr., Burnsville. Visitation is at the church after 9 a.m. on Saturday. A private family burial will take place.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family for Breast Cancer awareness.

WINONA -- Lola M. Krause, age 63 of La Crosse, and formerly of Goodview, passed away on Tuesday at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare in La Crosse.

Lola was born on July 27, 1946, in La Crosse to Paul and Lucy (Nagle) Goetting. She graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1964. She worked for TRW from August 1972 to December 2001. She retired from Hy-Vee in 2004.

Lola married Edward Krause on April 5, 1969. She was a former member of Pleasant Valley Free Church, and she was a NASCAR enthusiast.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Fern Ann, Beth Hanson and Gloria Hempfner; and four brothers, Lyle, Carl, Glen and Gale Goetting.

Lola is survived by husband, Edward; two step-sons, Edward (Betty) Krause Jr. of Holmen, Wis., and Darin Krause of Oshkosh, Wis.; daughter, Jenelle Krause of Lewiston; four granddaughters, Amber, Sarah, Stephanie and Alexis; and two brothers, Robert Goetting of Winona and Roy Goetting of Otis, Colo.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Martin-Myhre Funeral Chapel in Winona. Burial will be in Dakota Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Martin-Myhre Funeral Home on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Casketbearers will be Paul, Matthew and Steven Goetting, Kenneth Nevidek, and Rolland and Willard Krause.

LEROY -- Funeral services for Gladys M. Boe will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2010, at the LeRoy Evangelical Lutheran Church in LeRoy, with the Rev. Sheri Mason officiating. Burial will be in the Marshall Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

Gladys Mae Boe of LeRoy died Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at the Adams Health Care Center in Adams, at the age of 100 years, 9 months and 4 days.

She was born August 14, 1909, in Austin to Eugene and Sarah Belle (Blowers) Worden. She grew up in Austin and graduated from Austin High School in 1927. After high school she attended one year of Normal Training in Austin, and taught several years in the country schools in Bennington and Clayton Townships.

While teaching she met Ervin Boe. They were married on Easter Sunday, April 5, 1931, at the Church of Christ in Austin. They lived and farmed on several farms in the Taopi and LeRoy area. In 1977 they retired from farming and moved to LeRoy. In 2005, at the age of 95, Gladys moved to Wildwood Grove Assisted Living in LeRoy. In 2008 she moved to Adams Health Care Center

Gladys was a lifelong member of the LeRoy Lutheran Church, where she had been an active member of the LWML and the circle groups. She belonged to the Happy Homemaker Club in Oakdale Township for 50 years and worked for the Sweet Shop in LeRoy for 25 years. She always enjoyed the people she worked with and the customers that came in. She was an avid gardener and loved growing flowers. Her family was her main priority in life. Gladys was a good cook and enjoyed Sunday meals with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by 5 children, Lorraine Phelps of Days Creek, Oregon, Robert (Ellen) Boe of Chanhassen, Minn., Mary (Keith) Eastman of Riceville, Iowa, Stanley Boe and Elwood Boe, both of LeRoy; 7 grandchildren, Erick, Brian, Scott and Tammy Boe, and Gretchen, Stephen and David Eastman; 8 great-grandchildren, Austin and Michael Boe, and Brian, Kayla, Erica, Clinton, Chad and Christopher Eastman; 3 sisters-in-law, Martha, Bonnie and Maggie Boe; and one brother-in-law, Harlan Boe; and 3 very special friends, Charlie and Marcia Anderson, and Janice Boe. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Eugene in 1932; her husband Ervin in 1993; a sister Mable; and a son-in-law, Delmar Phelps.

HAYFIELD -- Kenneth Oscar Holtan (Kenny) died Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at his home in Hayfield.

Ken was born in Olmsted County on September 1, 1947, to Hertha and Oscar Holtan. He grew up helping his father on the farm, before being employed by Century Plastic and Nelson School Bus Service for over twenty years. He was in the Air Force from 1967 to 1969, and did a tour in Vietnam. He married Linda Opsahl on November 10, 1979. They resided in Hayfield.

Ken enjoyed visiting with his friends at the Hayfield bowling alley and vacationing during the summers in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to watch the Air Show. He ate out at Chow's in Rochester and Godfather's Pizza in Austin frequently. He enjoyed spending time with his sons and doing yardwork. He had a genuine ability to comfort those who were sick or those who just needed to have an ear to listen. He enjoyed visits with his sisters and was fond of past memories.

He will be missed deeply by his wife, Linda Holtan; his son Brandon (Veronica) and two granddaughters, Phoebe and Dylan Holtan, of Rochester, and his son Korey (Michelle) Holtan of Rochester; his sisters, Lucille (Rich) Bernard of Florida and Eileen Holtan of Minneapolis; his mother-in-law, Bonnie (Dale) Wiste of Austin; his father-in-law, Elmer (Tove) Opsahl of Rochester; his sisters-in-law, Kathy (Greg) Hulst of Waltham, Pam (Larry) McAlister of Austin, Cheryl (Jim) Jensen of Austin and Carrie (Harry) Kosuge of Glenville; and many nieces and nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Hertha Holtan, and his father, Oscar Holtan.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on May 21, 2010, at Crane Chapel Church, 1111 9th St. N.E., Austin.

Letters of sympathy can be mailed to the family at 604 22nd Ave. N.W., Austin, MN 55912.

HAYFIELD -- The funeral service for Doris Constance Baumann will be 11 a.m. on Monday, May 24, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 1st St. S.E., in Hayfield, with Reverend Paul Hauschild officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield.

Doris Constance Baumann, 89, died Tuesday evening, May 18, 2010, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield.

Doris Constance Wilson was born on December 15, 1920, the daughter of Benjamin and Selma (Severts) Wilson in Olmsted County, on a farm in the Rock Dell area. She attended rural country schools for her elementary education and graduated from Hayfield High School. On August 3, 1940, she married Kenneth (Bud) W. Baumann at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage, Iowa. The couple worked and lived in Hayfield throughout their lives. Kenneth died in 1996.

Doris was a homemaker during the early years when her daughters were young, then worked with her husband at the Farmers Co-op Oil in Hayfield as the bookkeeper. From 1959-1974, she worked at the Hayfield Medical Clinic as an office nurse for Dr. Harold Elliott. It was during this time that she started her nursing career and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. When the Hayfield Medical Clinic closed in 1974, she began work at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield. She retired from the Care Center in 1986.

Doris was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School, was active in the Joy/Patience Circle and WELCA, was a 50-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and a member of the volunteer Auxiliary at Field Crest Care Center. She enjoyed baking, growing flowers, and socializing with friends and family. Her Norwegian Heritage was of special importance to her. She and Bud traveled both in the USA and overseas, mostly to meet and visit relatives.

Doris is survived by her 2 daughters, Dorene (Donald) Ness of Kasson and Sharon Kirtz of Rochester; 4 grandsons, Keith (Marjorie) Ness, Kevin (Rebecca) Ness, Robert (Jennifer) Kirtz and Scott (Penny) Kirtz; 8 great-grandchildren, Erik Ness, Kiana Ness, Sarah Radcliff, Jordan Radcliff, Zachary Kirtz, Zoe Kirtz, Zara Kirtz and Bryan Kirtz; 1 sister-in-law, Gladys Wilson of Adams; and family friend, Linda Sapp of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 6 brothers, Clifford, Ernest, Nordean, Lester, Stanley and Wilford; and 1 grandson, baby boy Kirtz.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, May 24, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield.

ROCHESTER -- Elaine Darlene (Anderson) Wellvang, 84, of Rochester, Minnesota, passed away May 18, 2010, at Seasons Hospice.

Elaine was born in Lyle, Minn., on December 30, 1925, to Arthur and Lillian (Nelson) Anderson. She was raised in Zumbrota, graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1943 and married Phil Wellvang that same year. Elaine raised their son, Jim, with help from her parents while Phil was in the military. After he returned they settled in Zumbrota, where Steve was born, and Phil began his career in the insurance business. They moved to Rochester in 1954, where she worked at the Kahler Corporation for many years.

Elaine was a gentle woman whose quiet energy and devotion enriched many lives. Her creativity added a special touch to everything she did, from making gifts to planning parties. She supported Phil throughout his career, entertaining clients, traveling to insurance conventions, and in her retirement, working at Phil's office.

She volunteered at numerous organizations, including the VFW Auxiliary, Credit Women-International, and the Rochester Public Library. She was an active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Rochester for over 55 years, and a member of Ruth Circle. She enjoyed camping, winters in Arizona, and traveling to visit family. Above all, Elaine was a gifted and gracious hostess who welcomed family and friends into her home.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Phillip Wellvang; son James of Arlington, Texas; son Steven (Melinda) of Minneapolis; grandsons Thomas, Daniel and Michael; brother Richard (Sue) of Sahuarita, Ariz.; brother David (Linda) of Clearwater, Fla.; sister-in-law Rose Landsman (Jerry) of Deerfield, Ill.; much loved nieces, nephews and their families; and many dear friends. Her parents and a brother, Arthur Allen Anderson Jr., preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 24, 2010, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, with Reverend Karna Hagen officiating. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 23, 2010, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, and one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Gloria Dei Endowment Fund or Seasons Hospice.

Elaine was a loving, generous family member and friend, and she will be dearly missed.

CANNON FALLS -- Harold E. Hightshoe, age 90, of Austin, died Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls.

Harold was born on December 9, 1919, in Corning, Minn., to Harry and Albertina (Ulland) Hightshoe. He married Mae Wobschall on June 24, 1941, at the First Lutheran Church in Ellendale, Minn. Harold and Mae were married for almost 69 years. Harold retired from U.S. West after 25 years.

In his younger years, Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and traveling in his Winnebago. Harold was known as a handyman and always enjoyed helping people. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

Harold was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Mae Hightshoe of Cannon Falls; daughter, Norma Amaris of Northfield, Minn.; son, Allen Hightshoe of St. Paul; son and daughter-in-law, Darrell (Wendy) Hightshoe of Backus, Minn.; grandchildren, Nicole, Kari, Lori (Tom), Jamie (Heather), Ryan (Brenda) and Amanda; and great grandchildren, McKayla, Drew, Jack, Luke and Jason.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 21, 2010, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Austin. Burial will be in Red Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour before the service on Friday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

Arrangements are by Clasen-Jordan Mortuary, Austin.

ROCHESTER -- Mildred Angelica Leonard Smeby, age 95, died May 18, 2010, at Samaritan Bethany Heights in Rochester.

Born April 17, 1915, in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, Mildred was the second youngest of 9 brothers and sisters, all of whom predeceased her.

She married Rudolph Smeby in 1935, and they lived in Mt. Prospect, Illinois. She had two children, Karen Smeby (deceased) and Alan Smeby (Sharee), Rochester. She helped raise her stepson, Dr. Robert Smeby (Patricia), Rock Creek, Ohio.

When her husband retired in 1961, they moved to Wisconsin. They lived in Rice Lake, Mildred's childhood home, until Rudy's death in 1972. She then moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

To be closer to her son's family, Mildred lived in Omaha, Neb.; Orlando, Fla.; Little Rock, Ark.; Red Wing and Rochester.

While at Samaritan Bethany Heights, she served as "Welcome Lady" for new residents, helping them adjust to their new surroundings. She also played piano for the residents on special occasions.

She is fondly remembered by her extended family of nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, step-grandchildren and grandchildren in Wisconsin, Ohio, Tennessee and Minnesota.

Her body has been donated to the Mayo Clinic for medical teaching purposes. A small family and friends memorial celebration was held in Rochester.

ST. CHARLES -- Bernice M. Hansen, 81, of St. Charles, died Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Bernice was born September 17, 1928, in St. Charles to Guy and Henrietta (Simon) Conway. She grew up in St. Charles and graduated from St. Charles School District in 1946, attended Mankato Cosmetology School in Mankato and graduated in 1947. Following graduation she worked for Avis Beauty Shoppe in St. Charles. On September 14, 1947, she married Lawrence (Larry) A. Hansen in St. Charles.

She was a Customer Rep for Peoples Natural Gas in St. Charles and Chatfield, and also worked for Sellner and Hoff Funeral Homes. As a member of St. Charles United Church of Christ, Bernice taught Sunday School and served several terms as a member of the Board of Directors, serving as their secretary and financial secretary, and also serving as a Church Deacon. She was a member of the Rochester Area Ostomy Group.

Bernice served several years on the Winona County Board of Health and also on the advisory committee to the County Health Task Force. She was a lifetime church choir member and also sang for many funerals. She is a member of the Rochester Duplicate Bridge Group and played contract bridge with various groups. Flowers inside and out were a part of her decor. She loved to cook and bake and there was always room for extra at her table. Family and friends were always a priority, and she enjoyed making needle point pictures and collecting music boxes.

She is survived by her children, Stephan of St. Charles, Lynette (John) Spitzer of St. Charles and Julie (Tom) Herrmann of Plainview; grandchildren, Lukas Herrmann, Arich Hermann, Cory Spitzer, Angel (Brett) Zemlicka, Guy (Brenda) Hansen and Kim (Pat) Nesler; and 8 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry; parents; and siblings, Kenneth Conway and Violet Conway Hart.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service–St. Charles. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Hoff Funeral Home, and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery, with a luncheon immediately following.
