Noridian Mutual Insurance Company Acquires MDdatacor

Noridian Mutual Insurance Company (NMIC), d.b.a. as Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND), has acquired MDdatacor, Inc., a Georgia-based technology firm that provides insurance companies and health care providers with revolutionary data-driven solutions.

NMIC President and CEO Paul von Ebers said MDdatacor’s technology infrastructure has the potential to transform the health care industry. “The acquisition of MDdatacor represents another step in our ongoing strategy to collaborate and innovate to find local solutions that will sustain accessible, high-quality health care,” von Ebers said.

William Fabian has been named interim CEO of MDdatacor, which will continue to be based in Georgia. Fabian said he appreciates the opportunity to lead and expand MDdatacor.

“MDdatacor already has a strong team and strong products,” Fabian said. “Adding the resources of BCBSND will allow us to really grow our products and increase our customer base.”

Fabian has 30 years of experience in leadership roles in the information systems field and has spent more than 20 years at the executive level. Since 1999, Fabian has worked as an independent consultant, including work with a number of clients within the health care industry. He has also served as interim CIO of Philips Lighting Company in Somerset, N.J., and vice president of IS/IT at OKI Data in Mount Laurel, N.J.

MDdatacor collects, stores, manages and analyzes patient medical information from the most comprehensive data sets available in the industry. NMIC and MDdatacor began working together in 2008 on a pilot project that led to NMIC’s MediQHome? – a program based on Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) principles that was launched by BCBSND in 2009. MDdatacor owns MDinsight®, the primary technology platform behind highly secure HIPAA-compliant information sharing among MediQHome care providers.
