New ISACA Teaching Materials Help Professors Structure Courses on COBIT 5

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill., Feb. 13 -- The Information Systems Audit and Control Association issued the following news release:

Educating the next generation of workers on effective governance and management of information is critical to support businesses in all industries and geographies. To help professors prepare students for work in the field of information technology (IT), ISACA, a global association of 110,000 IT security, assurance and governance professionals, has released a new student book titled Basic Foundational Concepts Student Book: Using COBIT 5, caselets (brief case studies) and supporting teaching notes incorporating guidance from COBIT 5. These teaching materials are for academic professionals to use free of charge as part of their IT curriculum.

Professors and teachers can use the educational materials to explain and present principles of COBIT 5 in their curricula for students, regardless of their level of business experience. Professors who teach courses such as information security, risk management, and operations management will find the materials especially useful. COBIT 5 is a business framework for the governance and management of enterprise information and technology. It provides globally accepted principles, practices and analytical tools to help business and IT leaders maximize trust in and value from their enterprise's information and technology.

The caselets on IT governance, business risks, program development, management and solutions are designed for graduate and senior undergraduate classes. The caselets will help students learn principles of COBIT 5 and derive a set of approaches and solutions that fulfill IT governance objectives. The student book will help students understand and learn core concepts of IT governance frameworks, including COBIT 5, and learn techniques for assurance.

Academic professionals can obtain the student book and caselets free of charge in the academic area of ISACA's Knowledge Center by completing a brief questionnaire. A request on school letterhead is required for the caselet teaching notes.
