NaviSys Enterprise Platform Scales to Support 10,000,000 Life Insurance Policies and Annuity Contracts

Stress Test of Next-Generation Software Removes Perceived Barrier to Legacy System Replacement

EDISON, NJ (January 31,  2006) - NaviSys, Inc., the market leader in front-to back-office solutions for life insurers, today announced the results of a large-scale stress test of NaviSys Enterprise Platform™. Even at the most extreme levels (10 million contracts and 500 concurrent users), the system performed as follows:

  • The typical web page loaded in less than 2 seconds.
  • 200,000 life insurance and annuity "end-to-end" transactions processed in well under an hour.

The stress test put NaviSys Home Office™, the administration package of NaviSys Enterprise Platform 9.5, through its paces. Conducted in cooperation with Oracle and a NaviSys customer, the test simulated use at 500,000, 1,000,000, 1,500,000, 2,000,000, 4,000,000 and 10,000,000 contracts and 100, 250, and 500 concurrent users. The user interface testing included new business application entry, policy quoting and financial and non-financial transaction entry.

Michael Roe, president and CEO of NaviSys, said: "NaviSys is the only next-generation strategic platform for major platform consolidation. Fully configurable, it delivers rapid product introduction and an affordable implementation. Insurers who have hesitated to replace legacy systems can be assured that our solution enables a compelling business case for major platform consolidation and conversion."

Matthew Josefowicz, manager of the insurance group at advisory firm Celent, LLC, said: "As the life insurance industry continues to consolidate both in terms of companies and processing platforms, scale will be a critical issue. Vendors like NaviSys that can clearly demonstrate their scalability and high-volume performance should be well-positioned to serve this consolidating market."

For the stress test, NaviSys, a Partner in Oracle PartnerNetwork, used Oracle Database and IBM Websphere 5.1 installed on an IBM p570 series server. Oracle provided a database administrator to help NaviSys monitor the testing and verify results.

"Dozens of insurance companies are in production with NaviSys Enterprise Platform, and many of these are supporting high volumes of business, so these test results don’t surprise us," said Mitchel Ludwig, vice president and principal consultant at NaviSys.  "This test does highlight the software’s ability to deliver speedy, consistent performance - whether an insurer is administering 100,000 or 10,000,000 policies and contracts for one line or multiple lines of business."
