Nationwide Insurance, Allied Insurance Responding to Hail Storm in Denver Area
COLUMBUS, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Nationwide Insurance and Allied Insurance claim representatives and agents are prepared to assist customers affected by the recent hail storm in the Denver area. Procedures are in place to provide quick response to customers needs. Policyholders with storm damage should call the Nationwide Insurance claims hotline at 800-421-3535 or the Allied Insurance claims hotline at 800-282-1446.
Both companies have received approximately 750 claims in the two days following the storm. The majority of the homeowner and material damage claims are the result of hail damage. Nationwide and Allied have staffed the area with 22 associates dedicated to assisting policyholders with claims, visiting all losses and handing out checks on the spot.
Nationwide and Allied recommend the following steps to protect property from further damage:
- Make sure the electric source adjacent to the damaged area is disconnected.
- If water is flowing to the home, shut off the water supply.
- Inventory and dispose of any perishable items.
- Separate content items, such as upholstery, fabrics or other colored items to prevent color bleeding. Blot or wipe wood furniture to remove excess moisture.
- Prevent the growth of bacteria and mildew. Immediately inventory and place all moist content materials in a dry location.
- Retain damaged items to allow for proper evaluation.
In the event of a policyholder needing to file an insurance claim, representatives are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist them. To help expedite the process, it is helpful to have a policy number or home address available when the call is placed. Also, make note of any injuries received and any witnesses or police authority contacted in relation to property damage.
