Ms. Lorraine Ebdon City of Oxnard Employee of the Second Quarter of Year 2014

OXNARD, Calif., July 2 -- The city of Oxnard issued the following news release:

Ms. Lorraine Ebdon was named Employee of the Second Quarter for the Year 2014 during the Oxnard City Council meeting held on July 1, 2014.

Lorraine started her career with the City of Oxnard, at the City Attorney office, Collection, on December 28th, 2000. She now holds the position of Paralegal.

Lorraine's work quality is outstanding. The Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA), under the fire Department, is funded entirely through fees. Lorraine's effort has enabled the CUPA program to collect approximately 98% of all annual fees resulting in no impact to the general fund.

Lorraine is well respected and liked by all the members of her department as well as other departments, and the public. Ms. Ebdon deals directly with business owners, and explains to them the reason for the fees that the city is pursuing. Her efforts have saved the CUPA program money that would have been paid to a third party collection company.

Lorraine is very considerate about others. During the course of her duties, Lorraine consistently inquires and follows up to insure there is ongoing communication between the CUPA program and the fee collection efforts. She displays concern for the businesses and work with the owners to insure prompt payment of the required fees. Lorraine accepts the demanding challenges required to be successful in collecting unpaid fees.

Lorraine received an Employee of the Quarter plaque that celebrates her achievements, and a $250 cash award. Ms. Ebdon is a candidate for Employee of the Year recognition and eligible to receive an additional cash award of $500.
