May 17--RICHMOND -- A call about a domestic disturbance Tuesday afternoon landed a Mount Rushmore Drive man in jail facing a drug charge, according to Richmond police report.

Marion J. Farthing, 31, was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance after police responded to a call about a domestic disturbance at his residence, according to the report.

When officers arrived, they determined that Farthing had an outstanding arrest warrant on a contempt of court charge. When Farthing was taken into custody, the officers allegedly found 10 Percocet pills on him.

Farthing was booked into the Madison County Detention Center under a $5,000 bond.

Business burglary suspected arrested

Police arrested a man on a charge of third-degree burglary after a local insurance business reported a break-in Tuesday.

A representative of Nationwide Insurance, Highland Parks Drive, reported at 9 a.m. that the business had been broken into the previous night and $23 was stolen, according to a police report.

Entry was reportedly gained by breaking a rear window.

An RPD investigation identified Christopher D. Parsons, 31, of Martin Drive as a suspect in the burglary, and he was found and detained shortly after noon Tuesday, according to the report.

After an interview at the police department, Parsons was charged with third-degree burglary. He also was charged with first-degree criminal mischief, according to jail records.

Two vehicles reported stolen

A representative of Richmond Motors, 212 Big Hill Avenue, told police Monday that a silver 2007 Hyundai Entourage GLS was stolen from the car lot Sunday morning.

The minivan, worth $8,750, had no license plate. A man in a gray-hooded sweatshirt was observed taking the vehicle, according to the police report.

On Saturday, an Ohio resident reported to police that a traveling companion had stolen his faded red 1986 Mercedes 190E.

The man and an acquaintance had traveled to Richmond on May 9 to visit friends, he told police. The next day, the man discovered the acquaintance allegedly had taken the car.

The value of the vehicle is unknown, according to the report.

Tools taken from unlocked vehicle

A guest at the Knights Inn reported Tuesday that a black cloth tool bag containing an assortment of hand tools worth $420 had been stolen from his parked, unlocked vehicle during the previous two days.

Anyone with information about these cases is asked to call the Richmond Police Department at 623-1162.
