Moultrie police nab 2nd robbery suspect

The Moultrie Observer, Ga.
By The Moultrie Observer, Ga.
McClatchy-Tribune Information Services

June 14--MOULTRIE -- Moultrie police arrested on Friday the second of two men suspected in a May 25 robbery of a Moultrie man whose phone and wallet were taken.

Quntavion Spivey, 21, was booked Friday morning on the same charges of armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime as was Dominique James Riley. Spivey and Riley, 21, 211 Pine Bluff Road, Albany, are accused of holding up 34-year-old Lonnie Cooper.

Cooper told police that at about 2:30 a.m. on May 25 he was outside his residence in the 200 block of Seventh Street Northwest when a man asked to use his cell telephone.

He told police that the man who asked for the phone pulled out a gun a few minutes later and that he and another man robbed him of the phone and wallet.

The reported value of the phone, wallet and contents were $607.

In other arrests:

--Ramon Ranier Williams, 19, 1017 10th St. S.E., was charged Wednesday with burglary in connection with the theft of computers from the Colquitt County High campus.

--Joshua David Pollack, 28, 2130 Nelms Road, Albany, was charged Friday with suspended tag, no insurance and possession of a Schedule 2 controlled substance.

--Raymond McGaffeny, 51, Moultrie, was charged Thursday with battery.

McGaffeny was arrested after Kimberly Halverson, 31, reported that he assaulted her with an umbrella while they were drinking at a motel.

A witness who works at the motel told police that he saw McGaffeny drag Halverson across the parking lot, hit her with an umbrella and kick her in the face.

Police found McGaffeny asleep on a table in the 200 block of Fifth Street Southeast.

Halverson was taken to Colquitt Regional Medical Center, police said. A condition report for her was not immediately available on Friday.

Sheriff's Office

--Jerri Lynn Perro, 43, 1972 Hwy. 37 E., was charged with contempt of court.

Probation violation

--Sylvester Hill, 110 Arrowhead Lane.

--Nathan Keith McClelland, 26, 1637 Bob Taylor Road.

--Michael Garrett Brown, 29, 389 Cherokee Drive, two counts.

Thefts

Moultrie Police

--Pam McGlamry, Moultrie, reported Thursday the theft of a bronze grave marker from the 2900 block of South Main Street.

--Shirley Collier, 500 block 27th Street Southeast, reported Thursday that $264 was taken during a burglary.

--Murphy's Express, 505 Veterans Parkway S., reported Thursday that a shoplifter made off with merchandise valued at $4.19

Sheriff's Office

--Colquitt EMC, 15 Rowland Drive, reported Thursday that power was turned on at a residence in the 500 block of Clarence Jones Road.

The electricity was turned off at the house in February 2013.

The residence appeared to have been abandoned, but bedding inside indicated that a squatter may be staying there, sheriff's reports said.

Property damage

Moultrie Police

--Rodney James, 1100 block 10th Street Southeast, reported Thursday that a 2000 Dodge Intrepid was damaged.

Damage included scratches consistent with someone "keying" it all over, police said.

--Jaclyn Jones, 36, Moultrie, reported Thursday that a female acquaintance hit her 2006 Hyundai Sonata with a set of keys during an incident in the first block of South Main Street.

Jones told police that the woman was trying to hit her husband with the keys at the time.

The woman identified by Jones told police that she was trying to give the keys to Jones' husband and did not mean to hit the car.

--Tommy Kirbo, first block Cherokee Road, reported Thursday seeing a Jeep vehicle strike a neighbor's mail box.

Sheriff's Office

--James Davis, 100 block Bert Horne Avenue reported Thursday that a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer was scratched, with paint chipped on the rear door.
