Mondial Assistance USA Named a Winner in 2011 American Business Awards

Company gets top prize for Business Innovation of the Year

RICHMOND, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Mondial Assistance, the leading global travel and specialty insurance and assistance company, best known in the U.S. for its Access America brand of travel insurance, has won a “Stevie® Award” at the 9^th annual American Business Awards in the category of Business Innovation of the Year. The company won the award in recognition of its successful launch of improved “onboarding” processes for travel agents.

The awards were presented during ceremonies on June 20th at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. The ceremonies were hosted by Cheryl Casone of Fox Business Network and broadcast nationwide on radio by the Business TalkRadio Network.

Mondial Assistance utilized streamlined processes and improved technology to reduce the time it takes for a new travel agent partner to sell their first travel insurance policy from as many as 15 days to just one day. That’s a 93 percent reduction in start up time, a change that has greatly accelerated travel agent revenue.

Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word “crowned,” winners were announced during a gala banquet in New York City. Nominated business executives from the U.S. and several other countries attended the event.

More than 2,800 entries from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted in 40 categories in this year’s competition. Other categories included Best Overall Company of the Year, Executive of the Year and Best New Product of the Year. More than 200 business executives judged this year’s awards program.
