Metro Taxi Reminds Air Travelers As The Holiday Season Approaches that Licensed Taxicabs are the Only Safe and Reliable Ride for Hire to and from the Airport

PR Web

Denver, CO (PRWEB) September 20, 2014

Denver International Airport (DIA) is one of the United States' busiest airports. Denver International services everyone from business travelers to vacationers. With the summer holidays over, Metro Taxi wants to remind business travelers to avoid for-hire car services that do not have proper licenses, insurance, or safety checks.

"For-Hire Car services, for example, do not train, license, or properly insure their drivers," says Robert McBride, owner and operator of Metro Taxi. "They also fail to conduct in-depth background checks on drivers, meaning you truly have no idea who you are stepping into a vehicle with when you use this type of service."

McBride adds that, thanks to the Public Utilites Commission of Colorado, Metro Taxi's drivers "pride themselves on being professional, fully insured, licensed, and trained."

"We want travelers from all over the world to know that they will have a safe and affordable ride in our taxicabs," McBride continues.

McBride states, "We are concerned first and foremost that our taxicab service meet the quality-of-life needs of residents and nonresidents as we believe they deserve."

McBride's concern stem from some for-hire car services serving those only with a smartphone, a credit card, and ultimately, a more comfortable way of life than the less fortunate. McBride believes everyone should have access to public transportation, regardless of income.

McBride also fears unlicensed for-hire services are not safe – and he's not alone. Malachi Hull, former Taxicab Bureau director for the cities of New Orleans and Atlanta and CEO/president at Define Your Image, reminds travelers, "For decades, airports around the world have acknowledged the dangers of the public's riding in unlicensed for-hire vehicles. To ensure passenger safety, most airports, if not all, [have] implemented public service announcements to warn passengers about individuals soliciting to provide transportation in the baggage claim areas."

Hull also warns that, unless a vehicle is a licensed taxicab, you have no assurance that it is safe or insured. You don't know whether the driver has been properly vetted or trained to know the city streets. Such services are unregulated and simply unsafe, McBride claims, and urges Denver residents and visitors alike to consider taking a traditional taxicab rather than any unlicensed car service: "Whether you hail a cab from Metro Taxi or from one of our licensed taxicab competitors, you can depend on one thing: that you will always pay a non-inflated, regulated price while riding with a professional driver you can trust. A person using their own vehicle simply won't provide this to their customers."

Remember, a licensed taxicab:

Is clearly marked as taxicab with the company name clearly displayed on its the side of the vehicle along with vehicle a number to be identified easily,
Is equipped with a meter that charges a rate approved by the Public Utilities Commission,
Is properly insured to carry passengers in case of an accident and
Is driven by a licensed driver who has been properly screened by law enforcement officials for excessive driving infractions and criminal history. Further, the driver has been tested for their knowledge of streets, tourist areas and the law.

Metro Taxi has served the greater Denver metro area since 1985. With its modern computer dispatch system and smartphone app that allows anyone to order a cab and watch it approach their destination in real-time--and of course their commitment to offering Colorado's first green taxi fleet and wheelchair-accessible vehicles--Metro Taxi prides itself in providing quality service at fair and regulated rates.

Metro Taxi has an excellent working relationship with Homeland Security and the Denver police. In 2011, the company started Taxis on Patrol. Since its inception, the program has reported over 6,000 suspicious activities and crimes to these policing agencies at no expense to the taxpayer.

McBride puts it best:

"Our company is made up of a group of professional entrepreneurs who have served and invested in this community for close to 30 years by providing taxicab services. Other for-hire car providers cannot make the same claim."

As visitors to our community don't forgot to check out our monthly event guide and see all the fun that Denver has to offer.
