SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- MetLife Inc. (met) said late Tuesday its net direct investments in Lehman Brothers (leh) and AIG (aig) have a total book value of about $800 million, including about $10 million in common stock. "MetLife is continuing to assess the recoverability of these investments," said the insurer in a statement. MetLife has also made secured loans to affiliates of Lehman which are fully collateralized, it said.
