Lunarline Adds Training Program to Help DoD Adapt to New RMF for DoD IT

Lunarline said that after many long years and a few false starts, The DoDI 8510.01, Department of Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP) has been officially superseded.

As of March 12, Lunarline noted that DoDI 8510.01 has been re- issued. The process is now referred to as the Risk Management Framework (RMF) for DoD Information Technology (IT), or simply the RMF for DoD IT.

In a release, Lunarline said this transition will align DoD's security processes with those promulgated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. For DoD organizations and contractors, this change brings with it a new approach to information security assessment and documentation.

"The RMF for DoD IT represents a significant cultural change in how DoD approaches information security," says Lunarline Program Manager Rebecca Onuskanich.

Onuskanich, an instructor at Lunarline's School of Cyber Security, teaches one of the few courses currently available that help organizations make the transition from DIACAP to the new RMF for DoD IT. "Some of our clients are pretty apprehensive about this transition. However while the new process brings change, these changes can be managed to limit cost and ease transition."

Lunarline's School of Cyber Security is currently offering courses that help organizations get up to speed on this new approach. These courses include The Risk Management Framework for DOD Information Technology, available at the firm's Arlington, Virginia Headquarters. Organizations interested in participating can check out the school's course calendar for scheduling details. For those unable to make it to the school's Arlington campus, Lunarline's team of cyber security experts travel around the world to deliver on-site training to its global customer base.
