Jacqueline Roessler Discusses Compensation Plans in the Executive Divorce at the Association of Divorce Financial Planners 2014 Catalyst Conference

PR Web

EAST NORTHPORT, NY (PRWEB) July 31, 2014

Jacqueline Roessler, CDFA™ will discuss the handling of non-qualified deferred compensation at the upcoming Association of Divorce Financial Planners (ADFP) 2014 Catalyst Conference at the Westin San Diego, October 13-15. In her presentation, "The Executive Divorce: Handling Non-Qualified Deferred compensation in Divorce Cases", Ms. Roessler addresses the rules specific to dividing non-qualified deferred compensation plans, as well as the key differences between qualified and non-qualified plans.

"Divorce is never easy," says Ms. Roessler. "However, understanding the rules and knowing the differences in specific plans allows you to provide a roadmap for all those involved in the financial decision-making process. You can help bring clarity to a stressful time."

"Divorce cases involving high-wage earners require specialized knowledge," explains Andrew Samalin, president of ADFP. "With her extensive experience, Ms. Roessler is just the person to clarify compensation plan specifics and offer conference attendees the information needed to handle those issues."

Ms. Roessler, who is Managing Partner of Michigan-based Divorce Solutions, LLC, provides litigation support to family law attorneys in Michigan and Illinois. During her 20-year career as a financial advisor, she has helped hundreds of clients understand the short- and long-term financial implications of settlement proposals. Her work has been featured in numerous local and national media, including Kiplinger's Personal Finance, Fortune Magazine, Bloomberg's Wealth Manager and the Investment News. She has published articles on the financial issues of divorce in the Michigan Family Law Journal and Michigan Lawyers' Weekly. Ms. Roessler frequently speaks to legal, financial and community organizations, local universities and divorce support groups on the financial issues surrounding divorce. She is also a specialist in the Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDRO) arena and has conducted national seminars around the country, teaching lawyers, judges and financial professionals the intricacies of QDRO's and pension valuations in divorce cases.

The 2014 Catalyst Conference at the Westin San Diego includes the ADFP Pre-Conference Institute on October 13 followed by two days of conference programming on October 14-15. ADFP has also added one day of joint sessions with the Academy of Professional Family Mediators (APFM) on October 16 at the Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa. The annual Catalyst Conference offers comprehensive divorce financial planning education and the opportunity to network with leading divorce financial planning professionals. Continuing education (CE) credits are available for financial planners, accountants and CDFAs. Both ADFP members and non-members are welcome. For a complete agenda and online registration, visit the ADFP website, http://www.divorceandfinance.org or call 888-838-7773.

The ADFP is an interdisciplinary association of professionals who research and analyze personal and business financial issues, as well as tax implications, related to divorce. The organization plays a key role in policy making regarding divorce financial issues.
