Dave died peacefully and unexpectedly in his sleep last week. Dave was born in Rome, NY to Helen Elizabeth (Doherty) Briggs and James Leonard Briggs. He was the oldest of 4 brothers, leaving behind Tom (Marie), Kevin (Jane) and Peter Briggs. Dave was the adoring husband of wife Ann and doting father of children Courtney, Michael and Caroline, and the proudest grandfather to Braiden. Dave founded The Colorado Financial Group. He launched into the insurance business with Northwestern Mutual in 1974 "until something came along that better fit his personality and skills." He was proud to next become a General Agent for General American, and a premier producer for AXA/Equitable for over 34 years. Dave constantly qualified for industry accolades such as the Million Dollar Round Table and the Forum 400. His drive was pursuing lifelong learning to better himself and his knowledge for his clients. Dave felt his crowning achievement was his affiliation as a Partner at M Financial. He felt he had reached the top of the industry for his clients with the "unfair advantage" that M Financial has created in the financial services industry. He was a constant advocate for his clients and was always looking for the state of the art solutions to which the M relationship gave him access. Dave enthusiastically had so much more to do! Dave was so happy to share his passion for his work with his son, Michael. They spent many a challenging day together, and it was Dave's distinct pleasure to experience Michael's growth and maturity in the business. Dave's passions were hockey, golf and his beloved University of Denver. Dave was a season ticket holder at both DU and CC games, but he always wore his crimson and gold with pride. His young granddaughter will forever know how to "sieve." For many years he followed DU to the playoffs and was proud to share the championship moments at the Frozen Four. His passion for golf allowed him time with his friends, clients, business associates, brothers and especially his son, Michael. His smile and sense of humor will also be carried on in the faces of his daughters Courtney and Caroline. He will be remembered as a generous and jovial friend to many, many people. Dave was on the Advisory Board of the Arts and Sciences School at the University of Denver. He was rewarded to be involved with the academic community that meant so much to his college years.
