Groton Locke Electric wins three games

June 20--A fielder's choice and an RBI single broke a tie and lifted Groton Locke Electric to a 4-2 amateur baseball victory over Britton Tuesday at Groton.

The contest was tied at two after six innings when Groton scored the go-ahead run in the seventh inning on a fielder's choice. Tyler Oliver then added an insurance run with an RBI single.

Oliver, Zach Harry and Heath Giedt all had two hits for the hosts. Ryan Delzer threw a complete game, scattering eight hits.

On Sunday, Groton hosted Mobridge for a twin bill and won both games, taking a 6-4 decision in the opener and a 11-0 five-inning victory in game two. Harry allowed just one hit in the second game, and two singles for Groton. Giedt also had two hits.

A five-run first inning set the tone for Groton in the opener. Oliver had a pair of doubles for Groton, and Mitchell Locke and Delzer added two hits each. Jamie Jorgenson struck out seven batters in five innings of work. Derek Veldhuisen had three hits for Mobridge.

Groton improved to 5-1 overall and is 4-1 in league play. Groton travels to Redfield on Sunday to take on the Pheasants for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
