Genscape Announces Major Expansion to VesselTracker AIS Network With 436 Additional Antennas

PR Web

Hamburg, Germany (PRWEB) June 10, 2014

Genscape, the leading global provider of energy information for commodity and financial markets has today announced the addition of 436 new AIS antennas to the Genscape VesselTracker existing terrestrial network, concentrating on U.S. inland waterways and coastal regions with additional coverage outside the continent in Mexico, Canada, Latin America, and the Persian Gulf.

With the largest proprietary network of terrestrial and AIS satellite monitors globally, Genscape VesselTracker has combined extensive proprietary energy monitoring networks on both land and sea to launch the world's most comprehensive and accurate data feed for global shipping. With this new expansion, the Genscape VesselTracker AIS network will now cover every commercial port in the U.S. and approximately 90% of U.S. inland waterways.

With the supplementary AIS data, Genscape is able to tie-in fundamental intelligence about various components of global commodities and energy supply chains. Collecting information on ship location, speed, and direction in real-time provides unique perspectives and global supply chain information allowing customers to make better informed, confident trading decisions ahead of the competition.

The exponential growth in the production of North American crude in recent years is of major interest to Genscape customers, who will derive significant benefits from the combination of Genscape's existing oil market services with new Genscape VesselTracker AIS data, therefore providing a greatly enhanced global view of maritime oil and refined product shipments, completing the supply picture from production/storage, to refineries and onto terminals for export from the U.S.

The growth of the Genscape VesselTracker AIS network represents a wider strategy, in response to customer feedback, to expand coverage, maintenance capabilities, and expertise to improve quality of service and expedite the launch of new products in this key region.

Simon Toyne, Business Development Executive at Genscape VesselTracker, a pioneer of tanker FFA trading with 25 years' experience in Commercial Shipping activities, which includes senior positions at: Esso Petroleum, Goldman Sachs, HETCO and AET said:

"Genscape VesselTracker is now the clear global leader in providing AIS maritime data. This significant antenna network expansion is a great example of Genscape VesselTracker's commitment to continual growth and development of services for the benefit of our customers. The growing USA Crude Oil production, internal distribution logistics, and petroleum product exports are changing waterborne movements in the region and by adding these antennas we have now ensured that our customers enjoy the most comprehensive and robust AIS maritime data available. In my experience, the best commercial decisions are always based on the best information, and we at Genscape VesselTracker are providing the best AIS maritime data available."

Genscape VesselTracker is currently offering free trials. To take advantage of the offer and see how real-time vessel movement data can impact your business, visit the Genscape VesselTracker website at http://info.genscape.com/vesseltracker-ais-expansion or contact Adam Barnes at barnes(at)vesseltracker(dot)com.
