GEICO welcomes record-setting 11-millionth policy owner in Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Adam Smith of Las Vegas was greeted by hundreds of associates in GEICO’s Tucson office when he arrived in town last week to celebrate being the owner of the company’s record-setting 11-millionth auto policy.

“The monetary saving is excellent,” said Smith. “Out of all the people that bought GEICO auto insurance that day, I was the 11-millionth one. It’s surreal.”

The GEICO Gecko was among the first to welcome Smith at the Tucson International Airport. Smith later met Christopher Oliva, the sales associate in GEICO’s Tucson office who sold the milestone policy, and Dillon Wheeler, a GEICO auto damage adjuster who referred Smith to GEICO to get a quote.

“I’ve been with GEICO for the 9- and 10-millionth policies sold, but to be part of this major milestone is a thrill beyond words,” said Oliva. “At the rate we seem to be going, I have no doubt I will see many more millions throughout my career here.”

Martha Furnas, Tucson’s regional vice president, was pleased with the hearty enthusiasm GEICO associates showered on Smith, Oliva and Wheeler.
