Ephrata Twp. Keeps Taxes Flat, Raises Employees’ Pay

Also on Tuesday, the board discussed hiring a part-time seasonal employee to assist with snow removal. The township is down a maintenance crew member, following a mower accident that severely injured an employee in early December.
The township usually depends on four employees and emergency contractors to plow and salt local roads. Sawyer said the reduced staffing means it may take longer to treat all roads. Stauffer also expressed concern that those who worked this month's snowstorms were overly tired.
Sawyer plans to investigate hiring a 20-hour-a-week employee and add to the township's emergency driver list.
