Czech Republic: In May 2012, the minister of health decided to cancel the criticized project of electronic health cards IZIP. The controversial project IZIP financed by the state health insurance company Vseobecna zdravotni pojistovna (VZP) (Czech Republic) has cost taxpayers almost CEK 2 bil for 10 years. Establishment of IZIP which was never fully started was initiated by two Czech members of the European Parliament. Not only for high costs, IZIP was criticized mainly for the fact that it was established as a private company by two politicians.
