Proquest LLC

BAZAAR: The annual Christmas bazaar at St. James Catholic Church, 505 Woodcrest Ave., Lititz, will be held Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

In addition to crafts, wreaths, floral arrangements and knitted items, there will be activities for people of all ages including a white elephant sale, children's room with Santa, bake sale, basket raffle, silent auction, 25 cent bingo and a raffle.

St James Cafe will be open Friday evening with hot and cold food items. Saturday's menu will include light breakfast options, soups, sandwiches, homemade pierogies and salads at lunch and a ham/turkey dinner in the evening.

RESOURCE PROGRAM: Joyce O'Brien, Pennsylvania's director of the Office of Aging and Disability Resources, will present a cross- training program at the monthly community partners' meeting of Lancaster County LINK to Aging and Disability Resources Thursday at Conestoga View Nursing & Rehabilitation, 900 E. King St.

The meeting begins at 1 p.m. and includes the cross-training program.

O'Brien will discuss several of the Commonwealth's LINK's accomplishments through partnership development to enable citizens to remain in their homes and communities. She also will share her team's vision for 2014 to help strengthen the partnership in Lancaster County's communities.

HAM DINNER: New Providence Church of God, 269 Cinder Road, will hold a baked ham dinner Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church.

Cost for the family-style dinner is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Children under the age of 4 eat free. Takeouts are available.

Tickets will be sold at the door.

Proceeds will benefit various programs of the church.

ARTS AND CRAFTS: A Redware, Antiques, Art and Craft Show will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Durlach-Mount Airy Fire Hall, 880 Durlach Road, Stevens.

The show will feature local artists.

Food and refreshments will be available, including subs, beef vegetable soup and chicken noodle soup sold by the quart.

OPEN HOUSE: The Greater Lancaster Meals on Wheels program will hold an open house Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1085B Manheim Pike.

The event is being held in conjunction with the second annual "Extraordinary Give," a multi-charity fundraiser spearheaded by the Lancaster County Community Foundation.

Guests will be able to see the kitchen and preparation areas and watch volunteers and staff in the daily food preparation of both hot and cold meals. They will be given samples of the meals.

Volunteers deliver the meals and check in with clients across Lancaster and suburbs, usually by noon.

CAREGIVERS: Daniel George will address the Alzheimer's & Dementia Caregivers Group at Country Meadows of Lancaster Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

He will discuss the importance of relationships in successfully treating dementia symptoms.

George is an assistant professor of medical humanities at Penn State's College of Medicine and is co-author of "The Myth of Alzheimer's: What You Aren't Being Told About Today's Most Dreaded Diagnosis."

INNOVATION NIGHT: Millersville University will hold "An Evening on Innovation: Real Advice from Successful People" Tuesday at 6 p.m. in McComsey Hall's Myers Auditorium.

It will be hosted by the university's own Entrepreneurial Leadership Center.

There will be a panel presentation, followed by an audience discussion.

Featured will be several successful entrepreneurs from the Lancaster region: Paul H. "Pete" Slaugh Jr., principal and managing director at HomeSale Reality Services Group; Carol Aubitz, owner of C. Aubitz and Associates Marketing Consulting; Joe Mugavero, founder and CEO of WaveReform, and Joel Walker, president of Industrial Revolution.

The audience will be able to engage in a discussion with panelists on ideas and issues relevant to contemporary entrepreneurs. The speakers also will share their personal stories while offering insight into the fast-paced business world.

CANDLELIGHT VIGIL: Renaissance of South Eastern PA will hold a candlelight vigil Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. for International Transgender Day of Remembrance.

The vigil, to be held at Lancaster Friends Meeting House, 110 Tulane Terrace, will remember those who have been lost to suicide or were killed becasue of anti-transgender hatred or prejudice.

The event is held in November to honor Rita Hester, whose murder on Nov. 28, 1998, kicked off the "Remembering Our Dead" web project and a San Francisco candlelight vigil in 1999.

EMBROIDERERS: The Red Rose Chapter of the Embroiderers' Guild of America will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at Grace Baptist Church of Lancaster, 1899 Marietta Ave.

The program will be an Assisi Poinsettia by Julie Fera. Irene Anderson will teach the project.

SIERRA CLUB: The Sierra Club - Lancaster Group will host a free presentation on solar power at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lancaster Country Day School, 725 Hamilton Road.

AFFORDABLE CARE AID: Affordable Care Act aid will be offered Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Manheim Community Library 15 E. High St.

A trained Affordable Health Care navigator from Project Access Lancaster County will assist individuals in signing up for care via the online system.

Those planning to attend must call and make an appointment. There will be three stations with people starting at half-hour intervals and with appointments taking between 60 and 90 minutes.

Attendees should be prepared to provide information on their annual income, their Social Security number and whether their employer provides health insurance.
