Comings and Goings: Just a little longer for Chipotle [The Sun, Yuma, Ariz.]

April 15--To the question I hear often these days, Chipotle Mexican Grill is expected to open by mid-May, according to workers on the building located next to Red Lobster at Yuma Palms Regional Center. Workers are still working on the interior, but the exterior looks finished -- and very nice -- and the sign is up.

Things are moving forward with the new CVS Pharmacy planned for the Foothills. The purchase of land at 35th Place and Fortuna Road for the pharmacy closed recently at a price of $1.2 million. The property was purchased from the Robert and Martha W. Anderton Trust.

Also, the building permit has been issued for the project. The pharmacy is to be 15,300 square feet.

Leticia "Letty" Arellano and Ruben Hernandez have opened a new Liberty Properties & Associates franchise office at 281 W. 24th St., Suite 136, in the Century Plaza, with Arellano serving as the branch manager. The office can be reached at 247-9166.

This is the 10th office to open in Yuma. Edward Marino is the broker.

Arellano, a Realtor for 11 years, worked for Century 21 and ERA Matt Fischer before joining Liberty Properties & Associates.

Hernandez is a new Realtor but isn't new to Yuma. After living in Gilbert for 14 years and working for the city of Scottsdale as the revenue recovery manager, he moved back to his hometown of Yuma and became a licensed Realtor in 2011.

In case you missed the article, the front part of the old Salvation Army building at 1701 S. Arizona Ave. has been reduced to a pile of rubble. That portion of the building, vacant since the agency moved its thrift store and offices to 600 W. Catalina Drive, was demolished last week. Officials said the front part had been irreparably damaged by the 2010 Easter earthquake.

Salvation Army Capt. Randy Hartt said the agency plans to add on to the remaining metal part of the building and relocate its Boys and Girls Club, soup kitchen and other services there.

Ernie Cypert has become an independent dealer for Amsoil, a leading manufacturer of synthetic oils and lubricants for all types of engines from 18 wheelers and farm equipment to cars, motorcycles, boats, ATVs and lawn mowers. The company also offers fuel additives, filtration systems and other products.

A Yuma native, Cypert grew up in his father's service stations so he knows automotive needs. He had worked for LA Yuma Freight Lines for 24 years and prior to that for Dow Chemical USA.

He is a T1 certified dealer, signifying he has more training than a regular dealer. Cypert has a good supply of Amsoil products in stock. He is available 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, and can be reached at 581-3454.

Aflac (American Family Life Assurance Company of Columbus) has opened a new training and customer support office in Yuma at 3970 W. 24th St., Suite 201. The management team coordinated by Zak Harlow will find, train and develop new field agents. The local office can be reached at 550-4940.

Aflac works with all employer groups from three employees to thousands to enhance their benefits package at no direct cost to the business. In addition to working with local business, Aflac is hiring for field positions to consult with area businesses about enhancing their benefits package.

Travelers going through Gila Bend soon will have another option among fast-food restaurants to grab coffee, lunch or dinner. A new Carl's Jr. is under construction, with signs saying it's coming soon.

By the way, the roadway construction project on the east side of Gila Bend remains a confusing maze of barricades, signs and detours. Currently, traffic continuing on Highway 85 to Phoenix has to make a sharp left turn, while those taking "Dead Cow Road" go straight.
