CoActiv Medical Introduces EXAM-Jacket PACS Viewing Enhancement

<p><b>Provides Increased Speed and Accuracy of Diagnostic Reads with Prior Exam Information and Timeline Availability</b></p><p><location value="LU/us.il.chicgo" idsrc="xmltag.org">CHICAGO</location>--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- CoActiv Medical, the leading digital image management provider, introduces at RSNA 2011 the innovative CoActiv EXAM-Jacket<sup>™</sup>, a digital representation of the traditional "film jacket". Since CoActiv EXAM-PACS<sup>®</sup> is completely paperless and filmless, EXAM-Jacket fulfills the need to provide the diagnostic radiologist with all documents and other information that in the past would have been placed in the file jacket along with the prior films. As soon as the radiologist selects and launches an exam in the CoActiv EXAM-VIEWER<sup>™</sup>, a digital array of thumbnail listings of all prior exams instantly appears on the viewer screen. </p><p> EXAM-Jacket provides instant complete information for all prior exams, including full patient name, exam date and time, full exam description, accession number, ordering physician name, and number of images. Also immediately available for every exam is the prior Report Impression, as well as the complete diagnostic radiology report, with just a simple mouse click. </p><p> The reading radiologist can select a prior for comparison with the current exam with just a click which instantly launches an additional viewer window, automatically splitting the monitor screen into two equal windows and locating the selected prior directly next to the new exam. Selecting and clicking on any additional priors will automatically subdivide the screen into three or even four equal viewing windows <i>per monitor</i>, allowing for the simultaneous viewing of up to four exams at one time, per monitor. With multiple monitors, EXAM-Jacket allows for up to <i>eight exams with two monitors or up to twelve exams with three monitors</i>. </p><p> Viewer re-sizing can be accomplished with a double-click, instantly filling one of the viewer windows with a full image of one exam, one series, or only a single image from any one of the multiple exams. Any viewing windows can easily dragged and dropped anywhere on any of the monitors to allow easy side-by-side comparisons of any of the open exams, and a right-click in the EXAM-Jacket timeline display will automatically return all open viewer windows to their original positions. <i>Auto re-scaling</i> is possible at any time by just closing one or more of the open priors and the displays will automatically re-scale the monitor screen to maximize exam sizes for the remaining exam windows. </p><p> As with all previous versions of EXAM-PACS, multiple exams of the same type (MRI, CT) can be <i>automatically synching</i> so that scrolling one will scroll all appropriate exams. CoActiv has also added a new viewer feature with EXAM-Jacket of built-in <i>discrepancy indications</i>. This notification will indicate if any of the displayed exams does not agree with the original exam or any of the other priors regarding Patient Name or Date of Birth. </p><p> Since the displayed prior list is based on the Medical Record Number (MRN), all exams for the same patient will be presented even if the Patient Name changed due to marriage or other reasons. Because CoActiv EXAM-PACS allows facilities to scan and attach virtually any type of file to any exam, this permits any of the attached files from any of the open exams to be immediately viewed, including prescriptions, insurance cards, drivers licenses, technologist or ER physicians notes, or even voice clips. Virtually any images, files or other information that was previously in the old "film jacket" is now instantly available digitally to the physicians.
