Canal Insurance Company Selects New CFO

GREENVILLE, S.C., April 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- David J. Firstenberg, President and Chief Executive Officer of Canal Insurance Company, announced that John N. DiBlanda has joined Canal as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Mr. DiBlanda has more than 30 years experience in the insurance industry and has served in executive positions at Delos Insurance, Gallagher Re, Centre Reinsurance and KPMG.  Prior to accepting the position at Canal, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating / Financial Officer at Valiant Insurance Group, the US Operations of the Bermuda based Ariel Holdings Ltd., in New York. At Valiant, John directed the creation of a scalable insurance organization including a broadly licensed admitted company as well as a surplus lines company - including the development of all processes, procedures, controls and roles / positions.
