Sept. 30--BRADFORD -- Thomas J. Minichiello, owner of Minichiello Insurance Agency, was awarded the designation of Certified Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA), a professional designation conferred by the American Insurance Marketing and Sales Society at their annual convention in Tampa, Fla.

Minichiello successfully completed a series of insurance seminars as well as the course review required for each. The CPIA designation stands for professionalism, commitment to sales training and results, and technical knowledge. The designation requires a bi-annual continuing education update.

Minichiello, a graduate of Merrimack College and resident of Groveland, and has been a licensed insurance broker for over 30 years. Minichiello Insurance Agency, located at 229 South Main St., in Bradford, handles auto, home, business and life insurance needs.

NORTH CHELMSFORD -- Marianne Huntington and her collaboration of professionals at Andrew Williams Salon & Spa, 73 Princeton St., will celebrate the grand opening of the newly designed 1,900 square foot salon on Oct. 4, at 5:30 p.m. The salon will feature expanded services including hair design, facials, nails, make-up, waxing and spray tanning.

Andrew Williams Salon & Spa welcomes back Lori Anne Deeley, who is now the head of the skin department, has recently developed her own environmentally friendly product line.

Huntington brings more than 20 years of experience as a color specialist and hair designer to her salon. She continues to self-educate about the ever-changing world of hair color and design.

Huntington's collaboration of professionals contributes over 20 years of experience in the salon industry. Newest staff members include Anne Marie Shahood-DiClemente, Kristen Ormonde, and Tiana Neang.

ATKINSON -- Kicking off the 2012 soccer season, the Michelin Soccer Program is coming to local communities in support of youth soccer. Families of the Timberlane Youth Soccer League will receive certificates to be redeemed for a free, high-quality, four-ply soccer ball (official size and weight) while supplies last at A & C Tire Co. Inc., 49 Meditation Lane, in Atkinson. The certificate entitles each family to one free soccer ball from the participating tire dealer and includes a rebate for a future tire purchase.

After the 30-day program period, Timberlane Youth Soccer will receive $2 on behalf of Michelin and A & C Tire Co. Inc. for every Michelin tire sold to the general public. Donations can be used to purchase items such as new soccer equipment, uniforms, and entry fees for local soccer tournaments.

BOSTON -- Jim Nolan of Derry has been promoted to executive vice president at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. Nolan has been serving as senior vice president and director of Supervision, Regulation, and Credit (SRC) since 2007.

Nolan joined the bank in 1985 as an assistant bank examiner. He was promoted to assistant vice president in 1995 and vice president in 2001. Nolan is a member of the bank's Executive Committee and its Macrofinancial Steering Committee. He chairs the System's Subcommittee on Regulations, Bank Supervision, and Legislation and is a member of the System's Supervision Committee as well as its Large Institution Supervision Coordinating Committee.

ATKINSON -- Atkinson Resort & Country Club announces that the fifth annual Peter A. Lewis Memorial Golf Tournament, which was held on Aug. 13, raised $27,395 for the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence. Over the past five years, this tournament has collected over $100,000 for this organization.

Approximately 130 golfers participated in the tournament. Winners were the foursome of Paul Riley, Kevin Lariviere, Jim Lariviere and Craig LeSage with a score of -11 (61). In second place was the foursome of John Cook, Odette Cook, Jim Cook, and Tony Vallario who finished with a score of -10 (62).

The tournament also featured 15 children and representatives from the Boys & Girls Club. The children greeted the tournament participants on the contest holes and hit some shots with the golfers. During the dinner portion of the event, the children helped distribute raffle prizes donated by local businesses such as Epic Design Studios, Who You Callin' Cupcake, Grill Next Door, and other generous contributors.

LAWRENCE -- Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley announces Pati Fernandez as the new Director of Development.

Prior to joining the Elder Services team in November 2010, Fernandez worked in patient care, community relations and marketing at Children's Hospital in Boston, and Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital in Haverhill, along with several other nonprofit organizations in Boston. For the past five years, she was also a private consultant in the greater Boston and Lawrence areas, helping organizations with marketing, media relations, and event management.

Fernandez brings extensive marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience to the Director of Development role. At Elder Services, she will be responsible for management of the Development Department and activities related to: fundraising, donor relations, community relations, marketing, education, advocacy, media relations, event management, and publicity activities.

SALEM, N.H. -- On Aug. 19, Dianne Larose and Isabel Ciano of Absolute Elegance Salon in Salem, N.H., passed all three phases of the American Board of Certified Haircolorists (ABCH) exam to become master haircolorists. Larose and Ciano are currently the only hairstylists in Salem, N.H. and the surrounding communities that are board certified master haircolorists. The board conducts a stringent three phase exam that requires a candidate to be well prepared and highly qualified in hair color. A candidate must pass a 250 question test, a hands on performance of specific color tasks, and an interactive portion that tests the effective skills of various hair color challenges. The ABCH establishes a standard by which to judge competence and to acknowledge the level of excellence achieved in hair color.
