Rumor Round Up

With the market calming down and an a major deal being announced last night (SAP buying SY), rumors have resurfaced. Takeover rumors circulated this morning on thinly traded Keegan Resources (KGN 6.80 +0.12), which has seen modest strength. Tempur Pedic (TPX 36.14 +1.08) shares spiked in price and volume following rumors that private equity could be interested in the co. Renewed takeover chatter also circulated on Hess (HES 58.26 -0.58), with Exxon Mobil (XOM 64.76 -0.14) being the speculated buyer. We'd note XOM is currently in the process of acquiring XTO Energy (XTO). HES calls are seeing interest following the chatter with 14.7K total calls trading vs 1.1K puts. Renewed Amazon.com (AMZN 135.47 +1.60) for Netflix (NFLX 115.90 +8.07) chatter circulated this morning; however we note NFLX shares were up ~$10 before the rumor circulated. Finally, Equinix (EQIX 101.71 +2.50) shares spiked following a rumor that Verizon (VZ 28.80 +0.10) could be interested in the co. EQIX calls are seeing interest following VZ for EQIX chatter. We note two analysts have come out skeptical of the rumor since it was first circulated. As we always mention, while many rumors circulate during the day, and the validity of the source of these rumors can be questionable, the speculation may increase volatility in the near term.
