Borrego Health Unveils New Clinic in Desert Hot Springs

Borrego Health, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation and a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), invites the public to a grand opening celebration on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Desert Hot Springs Community Health Center Main Campus. The new facility is 12,000-square-feet and is located at 66675 Pierson Boulevard in Desert Hot Springs, California.

The grand opening event will feature a ribbon cutting ceremony, free health screenings including blood pressure and glucose screenings, entertainment for the family, music, prizes, free food and light refreshments. Borrego Health will also offer insurance information and presentations regarding Covered California, the state’s new insurance marketplace from 3 to 5 p.m. All guidance and information will be provided by Covered California Certified Enrollment Counselors (CECs).

The updated clinic site was purchased and remodeled with a grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) totaling $5.2 million. The brand new health center includes 18 pristine exam rooms, a health education room, diagnostic imaging, and a laboratory. Health services offered will include primary care services including family practice, internal medicine, pediatric care and women’s health services. Clinic hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Bruce Hebets, Borrego Health Chief Executive Officer said, “This is a momentous event. After years of operating in a smaller clinic, the community of Desert Hot Springs has a Community Health Center that has enough space for all patients, and will provide high-quality primary and comprehensive care to all residents, regardless of their ability to pay.”
