Biopharma Leader Live on Model N Managed Care; Government Pricing Implementation Planned for 2011

Redwood Shores, CA (Vocus/PRWEB) December 15, 2010

Model N, Inc., the leader in Revenue Management solutions, today announced that a biopharmaceutical leader focused on the discovery, development, and marketing of innovative drugs, has gone live on Model N’s best-in-class Managed Care Contracts and Incentives application and will begin implementing Model Government Pricing in early 2011. The solutions, which will integrate with the customer’s recently upgraded Model N Medicaid Claims Processing solution, will support the company’s growing managed care and government programs business and address key components of recently enacted health care reform (HCR) legislation.

HCR is introducing numerous new requirements to government programs management, including changes to Medicaid minimum rebate percentages, new Medicaid rebates based on Medicaid MCO utilization, manufacturer responsibility for calculating unit rebate amount (URA) in compliance with statutory amendments, new subsidies to help close the Medicare Part D “donut hole”, and changes to Medicare average manufacturer price. This expanded Model N deployment will create an automated solution that administers the customer’s entire commercial Managed Care and Medicare Part D contract to claims to cash life cycle, supports accurate and timely Medicaid rebate calculations, and manages all aspects of the government pricing process, helping the company stay in compliance with existing mandates and new HCR requirements.

“Together, these deployments comprehensively address critical health care-reform related processes for this valued customer and are a testament to our leadership and experience in helping pharmaceutical manufacturers address their most pressing tactical and strategic challenges in a shifting business environment,” said Richard Fitchen, Senior Vice President, Business Development, Model N. “Model N was the first in the industry to deliver HCR product updates to its customers and will continue to work with manufacturers in navigating the impacts of regulatory reforms and other critical operational hurdles.”
