But then the bottom of the sixth inning rolled around, and the Bulldogs pounced when South made a trio of fielding errors.
With two runners on and one out,
Cox would soon follow with a three-run home run over the center field fence, pushing the Bulldogs (10-4) ahead by five runs.
South would load the bases in the top of the seventh with one out, but the Bulldogs picked a runner off at third base for the second out and then Paul struck out the next batter to end the game.
Paul struck out 10 on the night with two walks issued and four hits allowed.
South's
Cleveland cut the lead to 5-2 in the bottom of the second but didn't score again until South led 9-2.
