Oct. 09--Belle Vernon Area has achieved perfection.

In Section 4-AA, that is.

With its 1-0 overtime win over Elizabeth Forward on senior night, BVA (15-2, 12-0) capped a perfect section record.

"This was one of those rivalry games," BVA coach Paul Sasko said. "The girls on both teams played their hearts out."

"It was a heck of a game," EF coach Brandon Gerba said. "Our defense played amazing and so did Destiny Habeck in goal."

McKenna Keffel scored the lone goal of the contest with 4:30 left in the first overtime.

Kaity Watson made four saves to earn her 13th shutout of the season.

The section title is the seventh under Sasko for BVA, and it is the fifth time the team has gone undefeated in section play.

Sasko's section record at BVA is 116-11-6.

"It is about the players that I have been blessed to have," Sasko said while deflecting praise. "Most of my time here, I have had girls who worked hard."

BVA hosts Section 1-AA champ Yough at 4:30 p.m. Thursday to close its regular season, while EF (7-7-3, 7-3-2) hosts South Fayette Saturday at 3 p.m. to close its regular season.

"We have one heck of a team tomorrow," Sasko said. "Yough is one of the top teams in AA, and they are both undefeated and unscored on for the season."

Under Sasko, BVA is 14-0 against Yough and has outscored the Cougars 68-2.

Ringgold 2, McGuffey 0

Ringgold (9-5, 9-3) clinched second place in Section 4-AA with the win.

"This was so big for our girls and it truly felt like we became a family on the field tonight," Ringgold coach Tom Cameron said. "I am so happy for these girls because they have been working so hard. I am proud of this team."

Haley Frizzell gave Ringgold a 1-0 lead heading into the half, and Alaina Nickolls added an insurance goal in the second half.

Carly Kristobek made four saves to earn the shutout.

Ringgold hosts Charleroi on senior night at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Charleroi 9, Monessen 0

Charleroi (15-2, 13-1) wrapped up play in Section 2-A with the easy win.

Halee Fedrick and Kyra Watkins scored two goals each to lead the way for Charleroi, which held a commanding 8-0 lead at halftime.

Also scoring for the winners were Adrianna Gottheld, Siera Short, Aislyn Lee, Kaitlyn Riley and Kaitlyn McCann.

Monessen (0-16, 0-14) has lost 54 straight games and hasn't won since beating Chartiers-Houston, 1-0, Sept. 28, 2011.

The Lady Greyhounds host Brownsville at 3 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

Bentworth 8, Beth-Center 0

Miranda VanKirk scored three goals and Sara Maniecki added two as Bentworth (10-7, 10-4) clinched third place in Section 2-A.

Bea Kossel, Matty Fowler and Madison Jones each had one goal, while Jenna Brewer and Danielle Gondak combined for the shutout.
