BRIEF: Funeral set Saturday for child who prompted day care legislation [The Augusta Chronicle, Ga.]

March 28--Services will be held Saturday in Augusta for the toddler whose injury at a Hephzibah day care in 2001 prompted two states to adopt legislation forcing those facilities to disclose whether they had liability insurance.

The service for Anthony DeJuan Boatwright will begin at 11 a.m. at Paine College chapel, said his mother, Jackie Boatwright. "Juan" died Sunday at age 11 at their home in DeKalb County, Ga.

Juan was injured when he was 14 months old after he wandered into the kitchen of the day care and fell into a mop bucket filled with a mixture of bleach and water. He suffered brain damage from the accident.

Before the funeral begins, open-casket viewing be held starting about 10:15 a.m., Boatwright said. She asked that no photos be taken at the viewing. Allen Webb, the pastor of Johnson Chapel Baptist Church in Jenkins County, Ga., will officiate, and Boatwright will give the eulogy.

Burial will take place at Johnson Chapel's church cemetery on Old Garfield Road in Millen, Ga.
