BRIEF: East Chicago hospital names new CFO

Aug. 19--EAST CHICAGO -- Art Vasquez has been promoted to vice president and chief financial officer for St. Catherine Hospital.

Vasquez brings more than 13 years of finance and accounting experience to the job, with responsibilities that include strategic financial planning, business development, physician relations and hospital administration, according to a statement from the hospital.

He joined Community Healthcare System in 2007 as a controller for St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart.

Since then, he has held other positions in the system, including regional director of finance for Community Care Physician Practices and, most recently, regional director of finance for Community and St. Catherine hospitals.

"With Art's extensive experience in finance and accounting, he will be playing an integral part in the planning, directing and controlling activities at St. Catherine Hospital to help us achieve our long and short-term goals and strategic objectives," said Mary Ann Shacklett, senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer, Community Foundation of Northwest Indiana, Inc.
